FBI has subpoenaed Nike's EYBL grassroots division

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

For those who don't follow college hoops, EYBL is the premiere AAU circuit and it's sponsored by Nike. The biggest of the big dogs (Kentucky, Duke, etc) get their players from this circuit.

This could bring down some really big coaching names if the payoffs weren't don't discreetly.

Why couldn't this happen in the offseason when it wouldn't distract me from football? Though I wouldn't be surprised if this goes through next offseason, maybe even longer.

It's not nice to take great joy in the misery of others...

Oh, who am I kidding? This is AWESOME! I hope this takes down literally every cheating coach in the country, even if that means 95% of them are shamed and fired and run out of town and their wives leave them for the pool boy, Raul*.

*Raul is from Argentina, but considers himself a real American now, having moved here at 15 to live with his cousin after the tragic and untimely death of his father, Jorge.

then it becomes Raul's story and you get one of those new trendy multiple narrator deals.  I want to know about Raul and his perceived beliefs and intentions but I don't think I need to hear from him in the first person.

The right path to take is to give Raul a "cameo" agency. A departure from the normal viewpoint that really redefines how the audience views Raul. But next week it's back to the normal story.

we can do that.  I think I would like maybe a "day in the life" cameo where you get a glimpse into Raul's life aside from just his feelings and interaction in the primary narrative.  Is he caring for his sick sister?  Is he actually cheating also?  I don't just want his take on events we have already seen though somebody else's perspective.

but they are pretty casual so not really cheating.  He does care for his siblings back in Argentina but they are not sick, just having a hard time paying the bills as the economy isn't great in Argentina.

If you maintain the prime story arc, you're in good shape. Raul could become a secondary or parralel arc. I also like the idea of an unreliable narrator (eg, Raul's interpretation of events).

Raul was at a rally in Berkeley, CA three months ago to protest the Trump travel ban, and got punched in the face by a confused ANTIFA activist, breaking the orbital bone around his left eye. Raul is very fair skinned for a Latino, FYI, as his mother was the daughter of a German-Nazi WWII veteran hiding in Argentina after the war...

If Raul becomes a folk hero, his affairs with Jane will surely come to light. I don't think he wants that, as he truly cares for her, and hopes that she will see how she deserves better than her husband. Also, given his dreams of being a banker, the publicity of folk hero status won't sit well with the self absorbed local bank manager Dave...
