Favorite Lines to Make Rival Fans Angry

Submitted by GoBlueFrom_RU on
We've all been in heated debates over college football, razzing friends / random people who root for other teams never gets old, or at least for me. That being said, what are your go-to lines to piss off your friends, coworkers, loved ones, etc who root for other teams? A personal favorite of mine for when Michigan beats Notre Dame was to call my uncle (a ND alumn) and say "Hey, I missed the game today I got caught up watching Rudy. Do you know what the score was?" Because we haven't played the past few years and I now know a bunch of kids who go to Penn State, I plan on calling all of the penn state people in my contact list when the maize and blue hold a 4 touchdown lead in the 4th quarter and saying, "Hey do you know what the score was, I missed the game because I was watching the 30 for 30 on the Sandusky scandal."

Upon seeing a total stranger in MSU garb, I will either say:

1.  "MSU is a great place to go, if you can't get into a good school"

or

2. "You went to MSU?  My condolensces."

I cut off and flipped off someone with an osu license plate frame in Charlottesville, VA yesterday. That seemed to work pretty well. I got the hands in the air pleading "what was that?!" from him.

Given my UM stickers, the UM plate, and the 4 detroit teams on my back window I think he knew what was up. His girlfriend in the passenger seat was laughing her head off.

I think he got the message.

That's a fantastic idea. It's not truly done in your opinion until not only are tens of childs lives ruined, a horrible man is rotting in prison forever, a formerly beloved coach is dead, those innocent fans simply must hang thier heads in shame and feel shitty about it as well. Only then will you will stop throwing child rape jokes in their face. What a great person you seem to be in your own head.

Yeah but they don't feel shitty about it. "It's 4:09 pm, go Joe Pa!" "The victims are lying so they can get money, the report from 1976 sounds fake to me" "Thomas Jefferson did the same thing to his slaves and he's dead and no one cares anymore" -actual quotes from the people I'm gonna razz come September, so yeah it's not done until they hang their heads in shame.

Too many of them are complete tools.  I actually know some decent Penn State grads who won't defend Paterno, but there are too many out there who really don't care that children were raped on PSU property.   They keep electing Alumni trustees to their board who are screaming about how everybody did wrong by Paterno and that everybody (that means us) owe the Paternos an apology.

It is a sick, twisted cult.

I lived in Tennessee for 8 years, went to grad school at Tennessee-Knoxville for four of those years, and married into a hard core Tennessee family (and have been living with them for about a year). This whole time, I have worn copious amounts of Michigan clothing. The closest anyone has ever come to saying anything to me was my father-in-law saying "Peyton should have won the Heisman" one time. That's it. I did hear one debate about it once on sports radio in Knoxville, but it was more about how Peyton might have won it if he had managed to beat Florida his senior year (which might actually be true).

"I acutally like you guys and root for you as long as you're not playing Michigan."

Many rivals hate, but it hurts more when they don't care.

Using the term "Ohio" instead of Ohio state always grated on buckeye fans until Brady hoke did it while OSU was dominating us and the big ten and made the term look silly after awhile. And if you say Illinoise instead of Illinoy, Illini fans will glare at you.

"Sorry you couldnt get into community college"

To Notre Dame fans

"Charlie Weis couldn't beat Rich Rod"

To Ohio State fans

"I don't care about football, I'm more into academics"

Ask a Staee fan who the coach was before Mork. They won't know. They are all bandwagon fans.

It's been years since this one was relevant to use but it's fresh in my mind as I was just talking to someone about it: For a short time after their 2002 championship, all you had to say to an OSU fan to shut them up was, "pass interference". (Also, I really like to refer to Urban Meyer as "Urbz". Really pisses off my father-in-law for some reason.)

"Hold on, I think Michigan just scored again."   Or, the one she really hates, "I'm watching the replay of last year's Citrus Bowl game, would you like to join me?"

I think for Michigan State fans who are being insufferable, it has to go more along the lines of the historic assessment of their school by the state of Michigan and indeed the historic attitude that the University Of Michigan has had towards that institution:

"There is an accredited land grant institution in Ingham County, you say? I did not realize this."

I like to denigrate Joe Paterno whenever any PSU fan is around, because those people are way too protective. I actually know some people who have stopped rooting for PSU because they think the adminstration treated Paterno so badly.
