Fab Five To Reunite At Chris Webber's Hall Of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony

After an eight-year wait to be selected for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, former Michigan star Chris Webber will be inducted into the hall this weekend. The Wolverines' Fab Five — comprised of Webber, Jalen RoseJuwan HowardRay Jackson and Jimmy King — has waited even longer to reunite, but that's slated to happen this Saturday (Sept. 11) as well, Webber told The Athletic.

Per Chris Webber in that article. Seems like it's true.

We’re back together. Juwan is the coach. It wasn’t that we weren’t together. There’s never been a time when we weren’t communicating, all five of us. I’m part of the basketball team because Juwan is there. You’re going to see us together a lot. I’m very happy that those guys are coming to the Hall of Fame to be with me. It’s a long journey and the most important thing is for Juwan to be successful, do right by his young men and to win.

Same article:

Webber: ESPN didn't tell me [Jalen] was going to interview me. So they kept saying, 'Here comes [host Maria Taylor], Maria ... 5, 4, 3 ...' and then I hear, 'What up?' And it was [Jalen]. So it was a cool moment. I mean, I talk to his family, his sister, you know, all the time. Him and I still have to talk. Like, things don't get repaired without talking. So that's not the way to do it, to interview me on camera and not go into a room.

I'm a man, man. You know what I'm saying? My father raised me. So my father would not be happy with me talking to you right now in front of everybody without going into a room first. And we didn't do that. And we will do that because hopefully he'll come to the thing and we're gonna get together. But I'm sorry to keep busting the world's bubble, we haven't spoken yet. And when we do, it'll probably be all good. But that moment for me, it was an honor that my boy is on TV doing this thing. It was an honor to be there.

They should reunite at a big home game, hang the banners for a national TV audience and a big recruiting group.

I also wonder how much of that is the legal department saying ummmm, Warde, we have a problem here with a recent ESPN article.

My original comment though in another thread still applies.  Didn't believe for a second what Webber supposedly said in that interview.

I’m just full of optimism. Juwan is taking home the title for Michigan this year! I feel it in my bones. What a journey for these guys. I love the way God writes stories!

How awesome would it be to hang a 2022 National Champion banner from a team Juwan coached, and on the same day, go ahead and hang the Fab 5 banners with it!

I like the sound of this.  It was, is, and always will be a special group, and they created a special era.  It's great they want to rally around Coach Juwan too.  As it should be.
