Exit Dan Enos?
earlier there was a report that saban was trying to poach dan enos that sam webb quickly dismissed with a "he's not going anywhere." yet 15 minutes ago he changed his tune and now says the story is legit. he's not saying enos is gone, but that his departure is a real possibility.

If you read your 1st sentence (before the ...), why can't Pep or Drevno learn from their mistakes last year and fix them?
I think we can all agree that the primary issue for the offense was bad playcalling, followed by a complicated Offense (magnified by a lack of experience). Why can't Harbaugh, Pep, Drevno figure out which dude will be the primary playcaller and keep the complicated Offense (given the # of returning starters)?

can you do me a solid? You hate U of M as much as I do right? So I'll get an offer from Harbaugh (who can't land Lawrence Tech's Offensive Coordinator right now) and then you can offer me a job too and I'll either ratchet up the salary and tank their program or I can embarass them and come work for you? Whatcha say?
Nick Saban: Let me as Finebaum. 13 second later..Finebaum says good plan!
Seriously if we can't offer a guy and keep him for a few weeks, we have issues.

Careful what you ask for . . . we still might not have an OC by then.

How's that saying go? . . . "When you have two OCs, you have no OC."
Yeah, something like that.

"I just want 9/1 to get here.. like quickly."
Man, when I read this I thought you were anxious for "9/11" to get here, and found that in pretty bad taste. Too soon, man. Too soon...

Saban's offenses and offensive coaches aren't any better than their ridiculous o line and skill position talent would suggest. Their coaching on that side of the ball isn't anything special (see Nussmeier, etc.).
January 25th, 2018 at 5:12 PM ^
If Bama's offense isn't anything special, I would love to hear your thought on Michigan's offense. The fact is Bama's offense doesn't turn it over, they protect the QB, and they run the hell out of the ball. We can only dream of having an offense as good as theirs next year.

The fact that both Kirby Smart and Nick Saban each have tried to hire Enos should tell you all you need to know about what they think about his offense.
January 25th, 2018 at 5:30 PM ^
In what capacity did they try to hire him?
January 25th, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
at this rate,...
nevermind
January 25th, 2018 at 4:52 PM ^
with the offense???
January 25th, 2018 at 4:54 PM ^
It's offensive.
January 25th, 2018 at 4:52 PM ^
is I read Enos had a clause in his Arkansas contract that prevented him from leaving for other SEC schools and Arkansas actually used it to prevent Smart from talking to him about UGA. Could he have left Arkansas, just to have that contract bought out, and move to another SEC school?
Not sure if going to Michigan would make this possible, and of course, this is way early, but if he goes to Bama and coming to UM first allowed him to do that, that is same shaaaaady stuff.
January 25th, 2018 at 4:56 PM ^
Is the SEC move void since he signed with Michigan first? Seems like it'd still be inplace.

realize that.
January 25th, 2018 at 5:16 PM ^
. . . he was employed by Arkansas. He was let go when they fires Bielema
If he's really that good, why didn't they keep him?
January 25th, 2018 at 5:18 PM ^
Uh, because they hired a spread coach?
And if he isn't that good, why did Harbaugh hire him? Why is Nick Saban trying to hire him? Why did Kirby Smart try and hire him?
Some of you guys are amazing.
January 25th, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
What's amazing is the ability to get down to -99993469 points on a sports blog that's supposed to be for fun.
Hat's off to that.
January 25th, 2018 at 5:32 PM ^
Not really all that amazing when the board mod takes away all your points and assigns you this point total, but kudos for trying to change the topic away from your horrible take.
January 25th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
I've had worse takes that that one.
Serious question: What role did we think Enos was going to be in here, and how compelling did we think he was going to be in it?
Was he going to be our OC savior?
Is he now going to be Saban's OC? Or just a position coach?
Are we getting all spun up about just a position coach?
January 25th, 2018 at 5:31 PM ^
Maizen is usually a fuck but he's spot on here. Enos is a very good coach that unfortunately was associated with a fat drunkard who couldn't field a defense.

January 25th, 2018 at 9:15 PM ^
says Enos was all that good of a coach? Comments here indicated the opposite.
He gets props for recruiting, apparently. Especially QBs. But we have QBs. If Enos is a magical QB coach, I wouldn't expect to have read all the negatives about his offenses in his other jobs.
Sky not falling. <shrug>

what his contract says. You would think there would be some clause in his contract about leaving early to accept another coaching job. I know coaches break contracts all the time, but usually they are fined for it.
Word has been he hit the ground running when he got here and has been recruiting his ass off. This would be a very strange development if true.

is a former spartan, so that would be a really stick it to em move and every spartan out there would be laughing their ass off at michigan.

They've been laughing their asses off at us, this wouldn't change much.

That's OK. Let them have their fun. They're still MSU and they'll always be MSU.
