how much fun would it be to sit in on ben mason's interviews with pro teams as he gets ready for the draft.  and i'd be shocked if he didn't nail the wunderlic.  i have a feeling those two things will move him up a bunch of draft boards - his intangibles will be sky high.  seems like a great kid and has intellect to back up all the fun quirkiness.   seen here with his 'you want to interview me?  go ahead, give it a shot....' look.

Michigan football defensive line Ben Mason a nightmare for offense

Love Ben for his attitude and contributions. Would love to see him get a job in the NFL but I don't share everyone else's confidence. There just aren't that many fullback positions and I think he lacks the speed/versatility to really be an NFL special teams player.

I do think his drive and mindset will lead to a successful career outside of football.

I think Bench's talents were squandered - how he wasn't the every down H-Back is a miscarriage of football coaching.  We only saw limited evidence, but the couple of times he ran a route/caught a pass, he looked pretty good at it.  God knows his blocking was significantly better than any other H-Back/TE we've had on the roster since, well, I can't really remember anyone better than his natural ability.  Panda was good in 2016, but not as versatile as Bench, IMO.

Unfortunately, as with nearly everyone else on offense the last 4 years, he got pigeon-holed into certain plays that became readable by people like me - watching on TV.  When he came in, drifted right during the snap count, I knew the RB would take a handoff 5 yards deep and follow Mason through the A or B gap for a 1 yard gain.  There was no diversity in how he was used (which is too often used in conjunction with Michigan's offense for the last 4 years).

I hope he finds an NFL team that can figure out how to incorporate his talent into a useful role.  He's not just a fullback and/or special teams player.

An all time great player in another era. A very entertaining and productive player even in this one.
I hope he gets drafted and has a long career as a specialist in the league.

It's a crime what we did to him the last 2 years.  This man never complained publicly, and just did whatever the team asked him to do.

Good luck in the future young man, you will be well remembered for how you represented this program.

Mongo sad ...

But now we will get to see Ben on Sundays.  Versatile on special teams.  In the right offensive scheme, versatile out of the backfield as a classic blocking FB or the multiple-purpose HB.  Just defines football, and at every level, but especially so in the NFL where the toughest thrive.

MORE BEN MASON !

Thanks for being a Wolverine.  Make us proud in the NFL.

Gotta love The Bench. He wasn't used properly the past few seasons. Maybe because he had a goal line fumble early 2019 season, I don't know.

He also has leadership skills that will be missed.

Great example to the team - still remember his clinching TD at MSU after the pre-game turf and logo destruction.

Hope he finds the right team in the NFL, whether as a late round pick or OFA.
