I'm really interested to see how Peppers does in the NFL. He's a dynamic kick/punt returner, but he really wasn't a defensive playmaker. I've heard him described as a bigger, faster Tyrann Matthieu, but Matthieu was always a playmaker.

The main one is that teams didn't pass the ball downfield on us, they went horizontal due to the lack of time available in the pocket, which Brian has referenced, but not toward explaining our lack of INT's.

And secondly, teams that play man-to-man press coverage for the most part don't get as many interceptions as teams that play a lot of off coverage and zones. In a zone you have more players watching the ball and more ways of confusing the quarterback(especially in college and B1G). Think of all the plays where a ball is batted up in the air. If you are watching the ball instead of your man, you have a better chance of making a move to get to where that ball is going.

Hope this answers your question, and I'm sure there are other factors, but those are the big ones.

That thinks Jourdan Lewis is a better player than Peppers? Peppers is the better athlete but Lewis quite literally took away half the field. He next to never got thrown on,which is saying something because Stribling is quite the CB on the other side. I recall numerous occasions Peppers blew coverage or shot the wrong gap, but Lewis barely EVER put a foot wrong.

I think Lewis is the best player on the entire team, and has much more impact than Peppers. I was pulling my hair out watching Baugh (whom the commentators said had a bum ankle) snag passes vs Jabrill. The guy showed literally zero improvement in pass coverage this season. He gets kocked off the ball too much vs the run, and as you point out 1 turnover his entire career, considering all the hype? He's a downhill player and closes fast, in that regard he's solid. I just think Jourdan is way more valuable.
