Eli Brooks article
It feels like Eli Brooks has been around forever, and he kind of has been. He committed in 2016 and his freshman year was 2017-18. I still remember the Zavier/Eli point guard competition. It was nice to see him knock down 17 last night in his last game in Crisler.
Anyway, he's always been steady, and learning that his dad coached through most of his childhood helps explain what seems like a thoughful approach to the game. Here's the piece:
Also, this is something Eli wrote for a class, and then posted online, about the experience of going to the B10 tournament as the pandemic began and world (and the tournament) shut down. It was posted back then, but is well-written and worth a look:

Cool
Eli has become a very good player the last 2 years. I call him Prince, becase he looks like the late rockstar Prince to me.
He has matured into a leader of the team the last couple of years and I don't think he has played his last game in Crisler yet. I think we will see a couple of more home games in the NIT from him.
Prince for Three!
Interested to see where his journey takes him next.
@boner
The answer you are looking for is Morris Day between him and Antoine Joubert. Its probably just the hair but maybe not.
Thanks for posting. Jolly green giants was a good read.
He is a clutch player that drew the ire of many here, and proved them all wrong. Great player.
Great career. Perhaps his greatest game as a Wolverine has not been played yet.
His piece on the Covid Big Ten Tournament is a really good read. For anybody who is like me who simply likes to relive surreal moments just to remember, the moment of cancelation of the Big Ten Tournament is on You Tube. It is actually cancelled when Beilein is talking about the Michigan game on the pregame show. Crazy to look back on already.
He's from my home county and a good dude. My friend coached against him, and talked him up to me a bunch when he committed. I played in a golf tourney against him last summer and we just talked his career. Sort of sad I played Div 3 golf and he prob beat me which shows how talented he is. I of course bought all of his beers, since this wasn't long after his LSU game.
Thanks for posting Eli's tome. I loved reading that, certainly brought back memories. By the way, down here in Indiana it takes 5 years to renovate a rest stop. Absolutely no one is in a hurry. Being from Michigan, that takes getting used to, even after living here for the last 30 years.
I kind of adopted Eli as my favorite player a few years back when it was conventional wisdom around these parts that he sucked. He’s proved himself a baller and true Michigan Man!!
Great article. Great person. Go Eli! Go Blue!
Great post. As someone also very interested in Buddhism I always thought it'd be cool to talk to him.
I really hope Eli gets a shot in the G league or stick around and help coach. He's been such a great representative foe Michigan.
