Interesting... Get Penix away from Tom Allen and look what he does... Kalen DeBoer has a real program coming to life out West...
September 18th, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
DeBoer was IU's OC in 2019, when Penix first inserted himself into the national spotlight.

Rutgers now the 4th best team in the East.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:45 PM ^
....and their fans are ECSTATIC....
September 17th, 2022 at 11:38 PM ^
They can't seem to run the ball against a team that has a pulse. Also I thought Windmon, was a cross between Suh and Lawrence Taylor... yet he and the rest of the D-Line provided Zero pass rush. Tuck...phtttttttt.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:43 PM ^
No Kenneth Walker, no run game. MSU caught lightning in a bottle through the portal last season. Thorne could very well be the team's leading rusher this season. Looking forward to our matchup with them.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:44 PM ^
He did not CUM enough, Tuck CUMMING
September 18th, 2022 at 12:03 AM ^
Windmon is just a guy and was absolutely invisible tonight. He is an up transfer. To MSU. Its not like Bama came calling. Many a stat gets blown out of proportion this early in the season.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:43 AM ^
They did have one sack taken away with a suspect roughing the passer call but Sparty is bad.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:41 PM ^
FYS :)
September 17th, 2022 at 11:43 PM ^
Sparty got sharty.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:48 PM ^
Sparty can go Tuck itself.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
I really hate Tucker’s philosophy in terms of the portal. For rivalry sake, it’s good having guys who have been there for a while that you learn to hate and want to beat even more (i.e. Panasiuk brothers). It’s not the same when you play a team of one year rental players year in and year out
September 17th, 2022 at 11:57 PM ^
The Panasiuk brothers repeatedly tried to deliberately injure M players. No thanks comrade.
September 18th, 2022 at 12:02 AM ^
More importantly - bringing in that many transfers every year means that he's got to run some of his existing players off. If I'm an opposing coach I'd bring this up to recruits early and often.
September 17th, 2022 at 11:55 PM ^
Lots of good spartan fan gifs that game. Just dumbfounded looks.
Anyone see the UM gear when they were showing the LARPers? He was having a good day.
September 18th, 2022 at 11:07 AM ^
Yeah but that backbreaker was hideous to watch. great reaction though!
wish sparty had lost by a hundred.
September 18th, 2022 at 12:18 AM ^
They had a bunch circus catches and still loss by 11. Also, Washington did a crappy job on contain in the 2nd half. Still, chop chop your way to 6-6 Melbo
September 18th, 2022 at 12:26 AM ^
Was at the game. Washington hit harder and basically punched Sparty in the mouth.
I think the Huskies Coach DeBeors should have rings made to celebrate beating MSU. Talk to Mel.
Don't know if they showed it on TV, but the Funniest damn thing: 5 students without shirts on had P E N I X painted on their chests. When the stadium camera zoomed in and framed the five of them up on the jumbotron, the end guy with the "X" spun around and had a "S" on his back.
Classic
September 18th, 2022 at 12:46 AM ^
Tucker is one of those guys whose face I enjoy watching as he's losing a game. Not as much as I enjoy seeing a defeated Day or Urban, but it's pretty close.
Edit: I also kinda miss watching Mork's grumpy face when he was getting crushed.
September 18th, 2022 at 11:23 AM ^
His head was so meaty and sweaty. He has that douchebag thing going on like Mork did, as if he thinks a mean enough scowl will get his RB to break some tackles or some shit. He should sell an NFT is his mean bewildered angry losing face
September 18th, 2022 at 12:54 AM ^
Seems like a good opportunity for our passing game.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:25 AM ^
Tucker is in over his head without a generational RB. Though I do think they’ll end up upsetting a better team in conference play at some point. You know, like Indiana or Rutgers.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:31 AM ^
Kenneth Walker III bankrolled Tucker's grandchildren
September 18th, 2022 at 10:02 AM ^
More like his great-grandchildren. $95M fully guaranteed for two wins over Michigan, one in an empty stadium and one severely ref-aided.
Tuck should give KW3 like 25% of that.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:12 AM ^
I actually didn't expect MSU to win this game. Surprised at how well UW played, esp coming off such a poor year. Got ahead and the emotion just overswept that whole team. Took MSU to long settle down, if they ever did. It was pretty much safe defense and desperation time before Sparty got moving. UW really put it in neutral the last quarter and a half. Left 11 points at the goal line by being stubborn.
Lots of warning signs for MSU, but I sure saw some good things from their TE, QB and WR. Coleman is a beast, Tuck will feed him all day against us.
They really need to beat Minnesota next week, who is also facing a big measuring stick type game with Sparty. A loss to Minne just about guarantees they have 2 conference losses before even setting foot in Ann Arbor because that bunch is not beating Ohio State in a couple weeks.
We all know they spent half of last week preparing for Michigan anyway, and they'll play remarkably perfect, competent football in Ann Arbor.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:14 AM ^
Its been said by others a few times but I'll add my thoughts. Walker covered up alot of MSU deficiencies last year, it was remarkable they won 11 games, without him, what maybe 7? 6? Do they even make a bowl game.
We must bury these guys this year.
September 18th, 2022 at 2:15 AM ^
I predicted a 10 point loss everywhere MSU and was labeled a hater. They were right, I am a hater, but I actually underestimated. If Washington didn't shut it down in the second half they win by at least 4 scores.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:26 AM ^
I'm hoping that Minnesota or Wisconsin can beat them and take the air out of their season before they come to AA. Unfortunately both games are in EL and neither or those teams are set up to shred Sparty's weak ass secondary.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
Ibrahim will get his yards and then when Sparty loads up to stop him, Morgan will hit Autman-Bell over the top.
EDIT: Evidently, Autman-Bell suffered a serious-looking knee injury against Colorado and likely will be out a while.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:31 AM ^
The MSU/Minn game will be a good match up and will be a must watch for me. Of course I want the Gophers to win!
September 18th, 2022 at 11:11 AM ^
Go East Dakota!
September 18th, 2022 at 2:13 AM ^
Msu is mediocre and this year's M beats them by 20+ points. I'm saying it. I will continue to say it. Revisit this post with glee as our squad beats them by 4 scores.
Sure this is said every year, but it won't matter. M is taking their lunch money, giving it back, and then taking it away again just for fun.
September 18th, 2022 at 5:39 AM ^
This day just keeps getting better and better! Too bad ND didn't lose, too!
September 18th, 2022 at 7:18 AM ^
Absolutely need to crush these guys this year. Or even if you beat them By one then fine, but losing to them just isn’t an option.
Harbaugh can’t afford to go 0-3 against Tucker.
September 18th, 2022 at 8:20 AM ^
Portal U. Perfect era for Sparty. Feel the disrespeckt in your current situation? Come on over to East Lansing,
September 18th, 2022 at 8:25 AM ^
Always good to see Sparty lose. Their pass defense remains a big weakness. On offense, Sparty loves the hurry-up tactic so our guys will need to emphasize that in prepping for the game on Oct 29th.
September 18th, 2022 at 9:44 AM ^
Nine point five million dollars to hand the ball off only for nobody to be home! Play of the game!!!
This was a coaching clinic put on by DeBoer. About ten coaches in the Big Ten watched that and are wondering where the hell their raise is it. No o-line, no secondary, and terrible play calling. Washington exploited that dumpster fire of a secondary while sparty beat their heads into a brick wall for three quarters. Sometimes you get what you pay for, and other times you get a hunk of junk decorated with some shinies.
Of course, there will be all kinds of excuses for this one. I'm sure Reed would have helped a lot on defense because in this one. What else? Was it too hot out there? Did that cute little husky puppy pee in their Gatorade? Mad that the refs didn't come to their rescue?
September 18th, 2022 at 5:02 PM ^
That’s why I think Minny wins next week. Fleck is annoying but he’s a much better coach than Tuck.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:20 AM ^
Watching that game, I came away impressed with Sparty actually. There run defense is solid. There qb is tough also, hes mobile. As a matchup with us its those two things that will give us trouble. We couldnt really run up middle last year too.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:31 AM ^
MSU has a good run D but UW also got consistent yardage throughout the first half. It was when UW went conservative that MSU started to slow down the rushing attack. It also helped that UW made some absolutely moronic playcalls at the goal line and during their 4th quarter fart-around.
Attack MSU on the edges and they won't have an answer.
September 18th, 2022 at 11:02 AM ^
From rcmb on Minnesota’s qb next week:
If I hear the words “Morgan is putting on a clinic” I might have to take a bath with my toaster.
September 18th, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
Was just reading an article about the game last night. It started with "Penix had some big moments..." Couldn't finish reading after that.
September 18th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
UW lost a couple of DBs to the top few rounds of the draft. That showed last night once Sparty decided to throw 90% of the time. Not sure if Penix got hurt and then UW slowed down the offense or if UW went clock mode before that. Still frustrating that MSU made so many 4th downs - I suspect our secondary will cover better - key will be to keep Thorne from getting outside of contain.
September 18th, 2022 at 1:15 PM ^
It was pretty obvious that Penix had a hamstring pull late in the game on the second goal line stand. He kept trying to stretch it, but couldn't move in the pocket, and his accuracy was completely off afterwards.
September 18th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
I hate them so much. Almost to an irrational level (even considering the irrational-ness of extreme fandom). I want UM to pulverize them.
September 18th, 2022 at 10:41 PM ^
The Penix jokes aren’t just getting old, they’re also stupid.
