It's like the whole f'n staff wants out of Ann Arbor

Not super bummed. Mac was a major but expected loss. I stand by my assertion that Gattis was never a "true" OC here. He never once got to have total control of the offense. We'll see if I was right or wrong based on whether Miami tosses it around the field or runs 1986 power concepts a lot more than anyone not named Michigan.

I just don't think you recruit 6-0 170lb WRs to run power. Call me crazy.

Anyway, was never sold on Gattis regardless of what award he won. The 2021 UM offense was basically manball with an abnormally high gadget-play success rate. The QB never progressed mentally. WRs were good for a major mistake or 5 a game. Etc.

He could light it up at Miami! We'll see. Wouldn't surprise me and he can recruit very well but I can only think of one game in his entire tenure where I was truly impressed with the offensive playcalling all game. One.

I doubt this happened if Harbaugh was working on contracts to retain his staff instead of seeking an NFL position so late in the game.

I am a big Harbaugh fan, but this has been a rough week for all involved with Michigan and supporting Michigan.  I can't blame anyone for leaving at this point when the head of the program wanted to leave.

The program is bleeding right now.  The irony is that we should be soaring after last season.  Instead we are in a weird rebuild looking for TWO coordinators!

I'm disappointed.  I want internal hires for these vacant positions and Larry Foote if he will be here.

Very well could be...more...departures soon.

A lot of smoke about a couple other coaches on staff. Heard about the bigger name the day before news broke about Jim flying to Minnesota. Not set in stone and I'd bet they both stay but offers have been made. I'll leave it there as I'm not in any way an "insider" and I don't want to be.

Michigan’s football program is bleeding?  After keeping its head coach?  Yeah well I say,”let it bleed.  One thing about a little, “boo-boo” is that eventually it’ll heal.  When your head coach goes into a self-awareness journey and comes back, that’s a complete journey.  And, is willing to accept that he’s here to stay for as long as he’s wanted.  However, if he was to leave and then Gattis was to leave and others in line.  That’s what you call,”mutiny on the bounty!”  We have a Head Coach.  Eventually things will fall into place.  Stop it with the doom and gloom.  Harbaugh is here and therefore we will get things back in order.  Before he came we,”were MIAMI!”  Now we’re back to being Michigan!

Seriously…this is why other fans laugh and call the fan base arrogant. Harbaugh wanted to go back to the pros. He even admitted he was going to accept the job, he told people, a lot of people, ahead of time he would accept if offered. - He didn’t get the job and he’s back. That’s it. He wanted to go back to the league, didn’t get it and he’s back with Michigan. Any other reason just sounds ridiculous.
If he signs a new contract with a huge buyout, then we will know how serious he is about staying at Michigan. If he doesn’t or if the new contract has another small buyout, then expect him to leave next year. Gattis leaving is indirectly because of Harbaugh looking at the NFL. If he wasn’t planning to leave, then Gattis wouldn’t have known that the administration didn’t value him as a potential replacement for Harbaugh.

This is a negbang, folks.   Here's how it's done:

Mike DeBord's innovative offensive genius far exceeds anything Gattis brought to the table.   Top three candidates have to be DeBord, Sheridan, and Charlie Weis.

This is awesome; now we can hire Marty Mornhinweg. That way, he can have more than 5 wins as a coach in the state of Michigan. We just need to make sure he has no input on coin tosses. You have to at least put a feeler out there to see if Urban Meyer wants the job first.

This goes way deeper than just the staff wants out of Ann Arbor.

This past year 100% proved to me what I already knew… Coaching is everything. MacDonald turned the D around 180 degrees in a season. It took Gattis a couple seasons but the offense was potent.

Those guys are going to be very hard to replace. All the enthusiasm I had for next year is all but gone.

I’d tell you what I really think about the Harbaugh situation but I’ve already said enough neg worthy stuff.

Within your statement the word neg is heavy laden.  Thus,”All the enthusiasm I had for next year is all but gone, statement!”  It stands alone.  You’re already depressed for next season says a lot more about,YOU than it does about OUR program.  Enjoy your beautiful outlook on your outlook about Michigan football!  If you were alive during our previous two coaches you must be among the LIVING DEAD, right now!

More than half of those statements are just blatantly incorrect

 Harbaugh: 1-5 (16.7%) vs. Osu, 3-4 (42.9%) vs. Msu

Hoke: 1-3 (25%) vs. Osu, 1-3 (25%) vs. Msu

The only accurate thing you said was that hoke has a higher winning percentage vs. osu, everything else is incorrect. And if you really think Hoke did a decent job, you should be forced to watch every game of the 2014 season over again

Feel like there is a solid way for this to all play out if your Harbaugh: If rumors of Weiss helping with play callsare to promote Weiss to Co-OC with Moore and opens up Bellamy to WR Give Hart title of Assoc HC (if nothing else helps passify a lot of the fanbase/boosters and gets him a pay bump). Go after Patridge to pair as Co-DC with Clink and than go after the best young up and coming linebacker/edge coach you can get.

I would have fired Jim for conduct detrimental to the team or kept him at his current shitty contract and half his pay again. Then I would have gone after Dave Aranda hard, then Fickell, but I don't trust Fickell so it would it would take him saying Fuck OSU multiple times and evidence of burnt bridges with OSU. Warde Manual doesn't have the huevos or enough spine to do what's right long term. You fuck around and do anything to jeopardize Michigan's success and dishonor it then you can get the fuck out. Keep that shit to yourself or suffer the consequences I say. No mercy. No soft candy ass wavering bullshit. If you wanna chase your dreams then go to Disneyland.

I'm always hoping that rather than hire one of the three hackneyed names that we posters lazily trot out when openings arise, someone is combing the bushes for the next young genius to pluck from obscurity and F OSU UP!

1. this sucks

2. He may have just been waiting to see if Warde was going to promote him to HC in Jim's departure

3. going South means he'll be in the region he wants his name being talked about for next HC opportunities

Thank you and good luck to coach Gattis and his family.

When your boss is out interviewing for jobs, and you aren't considered a high potential successor, you also start looking for jobs.

It's not that hard.

Gattis was looking out for himself.

The Gattis move doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The offense here is likely to be stacked this year. It seems like he could improve his resume a great deal by staying and having another great year with JJ at the helm.

Harbaugh is 100% to blame for this. The Jim and John wife swapping game is a fucking joke too. Pull the Harbaugh band aid off now and let's move on from this clown.
