Did anyone actually see Peppers' announcement?

Submitted by Decatur Jack on

If so, how did it go down?

Did he do a fake out before picking Michigan a la Derrick Green? Did he put on a hat or was it just "I'm going to Michigan"?

As of this writing, the Oregon-Nebraska women's softball game is STILL going! AAAAAAARRRRGGHHH!!!

Is ESPNU running a replay of JP's announcement?

Hopefully Peppers has his second best game of the year against Neb every year and they rue the day they let this softball game run into extra innings.

Judas Motherfucking Priest. It's been almost an hour since ESPNU was supposed to air Peppers' announcement.

I never had a reason to hate Nebraska/Oregon softball before today.

Its almost mind-numbing at this point.  I'd like to start the grill or work on my garage, but no...I don't want to miss out on the announcement that has already been announced.  I could DVR it, but watching it "live" means something at this point....thus the torture goes on

...and it really annoys me that I'm supposed to be enjoying this announcement more, but softball is pissing me off!  I need to see footage of Jabrill choosing Michigan!!!

straight up hosed my man. And this damn game is still going on?!?! I finally get to see a top flight prospect pick Michigan with the little hat thing and couldn't watch because of a softball game. Life isn't fair.

I will say this girl from Oregon is pitching really well. I put the majority of the blame on her because she has so many strike outs. I hope Nebraska's coaching staff gives a good lecture to their players btwn innings or at the half inning.

The people in this thread sound like a bunch of crybabies.  Just be happy he committed, they'll show the video once the game is over.

Why the hell did ESPNU air a softball game knowing that it could run over its alloted time?  I know the game has gone 10 innings but it was still in the 7th inning at 5:15 PM and sportcenter U was supposed to start at 4:45 PM

I can't take another minute.  I'll just have watch the youtubes when it finally airs.  This is more softball than I planned on watching for my entire life.

That may be true but there is one rule in softball that I cannot stand. You are allowed to take the pitcher out of the game for pinch running, and than the pitcher is allowed to return to pitch. I forgot what game I was watching, but the pitcher was outstanding at pitching, was a great hitter, but was horribly clumsy and slow on the basepaths. She had 3 doubles in the game, one of which that would have been a triple if she had even been a decent baserunner. If this were to be the case in baseball, the pitcher's lack of baserunning ability could possibly play a major factor in a close game. Softball totally takes this element of the game away, and I think it is ridiculous. BTW I just realized how long this post was, so I apologize.

Coaches don't want their pitchers hurt from sliding, since one great pitcher is enough for a national championship run (or whatever goals your team has). Also I'm almost positive there isn't a baseball team in the country that only carries 3-4 pitchers, which is the norm in softball, so that magnifies the importance of keeping any one of them healthy. Not saying it's a good or bad rule, but that's got to be the reasoning.

The real dumbest thing in softball is calling the designated hitter the "designated player". That's both stupid and redundant. That and allowing organized cheering the entire game, I hate that too.

is unique to softball.  When I first started coaching, I did not allow my girls to to any organized cheers.  They were loud and distracting.  Then my 10 year old daughter said, "Dad, can I transfer to that team, because they have a lot of fun cheering?"  and that was that.  Botta Boom, botta bing.

Now I enjoy it.  Especially the M cheers.  They do a great rendition of "cant turn you loose- Michigan Style"  It is fun to cheer along with the girls.

I just think that it's dumb. In baseball, coaches have to worry about their pitchers potentially getting hurt on the basepaths, but that is why it is all a part of the game. And if you are that bad of a baserunner but good of a hitter, your team should have to take the good with the bad, not take the good and a very cheap way out with the bad. And I agree that is pretty dumb, but I guess this is just more reasons why I stick to baseball anyway.

Read it closer. I never said subbing is crazy. Subbing and then letting them come back in is crazy. Subbing is a part of the game. Imagine this rule in the MLB. NL teams could pinch hit for their pitcher and put their pitcher back in the game next inning. It's a dumb rule. But I clearly never said subbing is crazy, i said that subbing and letting them return is crazy
