Devin Bush Jr. to Announce on December 16th
4 Star Linebacker target from Florida, Devin Bush Jr., will announce his college plans on December 16th (per his Twitter account). As most of us know, it is believed to be down to Michigan and Florida State.
How does everyone feel about our chances?

I feel like it's 50-50

It's odd that Bush is 50-50 on college and Butt is 50-50 on the NFL at about the same time. Well, maybe it's not so weird, as Bush and Butt are usually pretty close together...
December 7th, 2015 at 3:19 PM ^
Taint that the truth.

You bet your blass it is!

wasn't there something about his dad taking a position here or something??
December 7th, 2015 at 12:48 PM ^
We do have an opening at that position.
December 7th, 2015 at 12:53 PM ^
The Florida Rivals chief said it was happening on a podcast. But since then it seems like there hasn't been any movement. Somebody asked Brewster about it and he said he hadn't heard but it sounded like a good idea.
When was Partridge hired? I feel like it was after Signing Day.

I believe he also CB'ed him to FSU. With his dad being a coach at FSU, that doesn't seem like a good sign to me.

Brewster's dad*
December 7th, 2015 at 1:06 PM ^
His dad is NOT a coach at FSU, he's his HS head coach. His dad did however play at FSU.
December 7th, 2015 at 1:15 PM ^
The reference was to Clint Brewster's dad, not Devin Bush Jr's. So yes, Clint's dad (Tim Brewster) is the TE coach at FSU.

December 7th, 2015 at 12:36 PM ^
That's neither a good sign nor professional sounding behavior.
December 7th, 2015 at 12:49 PM ^
Seemed a bit unprofessional so I went to see what he wrote. I didnt see it as "dogging" as giving an evaluation on why he is a 3* in the 247 system. He is ranked 456 which is not even really a borderline 4* so Clint gave his reasonings - not sure you can hate on him for explaining why the rank.
Here are the tweets:
First Bush sr comment:
@clintbrew247 hey Clint Devin Bush Jr moves around better than me at his age. I was 1st Rd pick now what lol pic.twitter.com/FMmLmc3FBq
— Devin Bush (@CoachBush23) December 3, 2015
Then
@CoachBush23 Lol. All love coach. But I don't see big upside like some of the elites in 2016 class. Look at Dontavious Jackson for reference
— Clint Brewster (@clintbrew247) December 3, 2015
@CoachBush23 first-step quickness and agility. Slow to get off his spot at times. Downhill burst isn't elite. Not real twitchy
— Clint Brewster (@clintbrew247) December 3, 2015
@CoachBush23 also range and length compared to elite ones in the class

Well I think you have to allow his dad is a HS coach. It would be diff if it was Joe Schmoe whose dad was in accounting for the local grocery store Brewster is engaging out of the blue, vs a guy is a HS coach. Obviously its not the 1st guy he is evaluating at the HS the dad coaches at, so they have an estabished relationship that came before this discussion of this 1 particular player.
I think its much ado about nothing - people want to be offended by everything this day and age. A guy is not going to commit (or not) due to what a recruiting analyst is saying. It's not Brewster's job to blow sunshine up everyone's ass; it's his job to evaluate and then explain why the evaluation. Bush Sr took a cut and paste of an eval of what Brewster wrote, and tweeted a retort....and Clint engaged back to explain why the low rating he had on the kid.
December 7th, 2015 at 2:41 PM ^
he chose to engage in a public debate highlighting what he didn't like about a recruit's game and made unfavorable comparisons to other recruits. It would have looked bad if it was just with a kid's HS coach.
These guys live on access, both with recruits and with the teams they cover. He's enjoyed inside access to FSU. I would think that kind of exchange is not going to help him with Michigan's staff. I can't imagine Sam Webb doing something like that.
December 7th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
totally agree. prob not the most professional idea for these 2 to go back and forth on twitter (though i admittedly only skimmed the above tweets and i dont personally use twitter). but in this day and age, plenty of people seem to have no problem with openly arguing or debating heated issues over public (and semi-permanent) communication mediums so its also tough to knock.
both guys just doing their jobs and / or defending their interests. tough topic though, and a difficult balance to maintain - recruits need and want exposure, analysts are paid to cover / evaluate hs kids, coaches and parents want the best for their kids while also protecting them, kids wanting the exposure might not be ready for it or equipped to deal with negativity, rejection, etc. just a wild industry all around - fed by fans like us.
just my opinion but i pretty much agree with his entire eval of bush. if he moved as well as his pops in college, id have a different opinion
December 7th, 2015 at 12:57 PM ^
exchange is two adult men engaging in repeated, and public, usage of LOL.
They should both be ashamed of themselves.

I'm putting on my tinfoil hat here: This is CB and Bush Sr. talking smack about two guys they know will be on the same field in Maize and Blue.
December 7th, 2015 at 1:41 PM ^
I'm not too great at the twitters, but where was Bush Sr talking smack?
December 7th, 2015 at 12:17 PM ^
The only person he has replied to this morning is WR commit Brad Hawkins. This could be a good sign.

We won a battle like this last year for Shelton Johnson on signing day. Let's hope it happens again as we desperately need linebackers.

not dumping on your comment but im pretty sure bush intends to enroll early so he likely always planned on deciding over next few weeks. its not like he really has the option to announce on signing day or wait much longer if hes enrolling at his school of choice in january as has been reported

Unfortunately - for some reason the Noles have gotten us.
Maybe Jim should show the recruits what Jamis said when he was in A2:
Jamis said he would have gone to Michigan and loved here
