Derrick Walton makes the Clippers.
Title says it all. D Walt scored the last roster spot & a one year deal. Dude can ball, here’s to hoping things work out.
There’s an embed video about Caris Lavert’s upcoming season too. Go Blue!

Player development. It was a hallmark of the Beilein days. Damn! I hope it continues.

Beilein had quite the developers touch with point guards. Trey Burke, Derrick Walton and Zavier Simpson. Pretty nice run.

what? no butterflies?

Not to mention he turned walk ons David Merritt and CJ Lee into servicable Big Ten PGs.

Beilein was good, yes, but I think given the time since Walton left the program I would focus more on Walton’s personal effort.

Credit all around--to Belein's coaching, Walton's effort and work ethic, but also Beliein's character development

It also says a lot about Franz Wagner who split reserve duties with Walton on the Berlin squad last year.

That is awesome. Very happy for him.

Excellent!

Woo! Congratulations Mr. Walton

He might win a 'ship this year.
Good for him

cool that he made any roster, let alone clippers where hell get a shot at a ring

Never would have thought Walton had a chance in the Association. Until that run at the end of his senior year. He was fantastic.

Goddammit one more inch on that step back against Oregon and his resume is even "huger"! Ugh...the glory and pain of March Madness

Great opportunity for Derrick! I hope he has a great season and gets a long term deal.
Besides Juwan, how many Wolverines have NBA championships? Rudy T...Did Rice win any with the Lakers?
October 21st, 2019 at 11:03 PM ^
Thank you. Have the Knicks considered asking Cazzie to play this season?
October 21st, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
Wasn't Juwan on one of the Heat title teams?

Dude can ball. So happy for all these Michigan players making it to the league.
October 21st, 2019 at 11:39 PM ^
On the negative...he is on the Clippers, so nobody in Los Angeles will get to watch him play.

Well deserved

... Makes the Clippers what?
A sandwich?
A scrap book??
October 22nd, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
A championship team.

outstanding

These are fun days in college basketball. I wish I could watch a game between John Beilein NBA alums and Tony Bennett NBA alums. There are tons of them these days.
October 22nd, 2019 at 11:43 AM ^
Was going to say I'd pay to see that game. But those frontcourts are paper thin. Damn nice group of SGs though. Maybe 3 on 3?
UM: Burke/Walton, LaVert/Poole/Hardaway, Iggy/GRIII/DRob, DJ/Mo, ?
UVA: Jerome, Brogdon/Harris/Guy/Jerome/Hall/Shayok, ?, Hunter/Scott, ?
October 22nd, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
Even better group of SGs if Tony's team can have Klay Thompson. But yeah, the only real post-ish guy there is Mo. Mike Scott's the only one that even remotely resembles a big man on Team Tony.
I like 3 on 3. That'd be fun. You could have two really good games going on at the same time with someone coming off the bench in each one.

What if I were to tell you that you could watch a game between John Wooden's UCLA alumni and Dean Smith's UNC alumni with Keith Jackson at the microphone? Is that something that you might be interested in?

Congrats Derrick! One of my all time favorite scrappers.
