Haters mostly. I've been a boxing fan for 20 years, and Ive seen plenty of great boxers who lacked superb technique but made up for it in other areas like stamina, power and ability to take a punch. Ricardo Mayorga, Joe Calzaghe, Car Froch, Ricky Hatton, Leon Spinks, Ernie Shavers. Hell even Pacquiao was never all that refined a pugilist.
Wilders right hand is actually very crisp.
george foreman had almost no technique. he was just so big and powerful that he could push his opponents into a corner then all he had to do was land one punch cleanly and it was done.

Boxing has basically turned into 3 separate factions. Wilder is with PBC(Showtime/Fox), Fury just signed with Top Rank(ESPN) and Joshua is with DAZN(streaming service). None of these entities want to split the money or give up their exclusive rights of showing the mega fight. Thus we are in the stage of 3 best heavyweights in the world posturing about who is afraid of who and why the others won’t sign the contract to make a fight.
Everyone said that fury should easily beat wilder on score, but fury got knocked down, I can’t even remember how many times. Kudos to him for staying in there, but his pillow punches added up shouldn’t beat a ton of knockdowns. People just find ways to hate wilder.
Come on man. That's not how scoring in boxing works. Wilder scored 2 knockdowns against Fury in the ninth and the twelfth round. Knockdowns are an auto 10-8 round. Wilder lost the majority of the rounds but made it up with his knockdowns.
Good summary --- in boxing, as in much of life, the barriers are money, egos and politics.
I suppose Wilder fights Ortiz (again) next. In isolation, that's a pretty good fight. In the bigger picture, it's disappointing.
Wilder should sign with Top Rank or Matchroom (DAZN) because he’s the only one of the 3 still getting paid peanuts to fight. He made 6-8 mil for this fight where as the other 2 are getting paid an excess of 20mil to fight the same level of competition

It would be great to see some big fights in the heavyweight division again. Been a long time.
Seems like MMA has become more popular, but I find the sport difficult to watch and here's why: as brutal of a knockout as that was, what makes boxing a more dignified sport is that Wilder didn't then immediately jump on top of the guy and start smashing his face to a bloody pulp as the guy is unconscious on the canvas. I just can't watch that when it happens in MMA.
