[đź”’; deletion pending] Cade done for the season/transferring?

Submitted by MGoArchive on October 9th, 2022 at 11:09 AM

He is not on the sidelines. I believe he posted some stuff from his home on Instagram this past weekend. It's just kind of weird at this point, seeing as how...it would be great to have a backup quarterback on the roster.

Did you even watch the UConn game?

As for the extra year of eligibility, it’s far from certain he’d get it, and it’s not at all obvious that he’d want it if it were available. Most people who spend seven years in college are, like, doctors. Cade began classes at Michigan in January 2019.

It would not surprise me at all if he’s just shut it down after playing less than 4 games so he can transfer and keep an extra year of eligibility

Only a certain number of players are allowed to travel for away games, so the team can only afford to bring guys who are able to dress and play in the game. Injured players do not travel for away games, and Cade likely had no say in the matter even if he pleaded with the coaches. This is not a new policy at all.

Anyone in here making idiotic speculations about this fact, or worse, ridiculing Cade's character for it, should be embarrassed. Cade will be on the sidelines cheering on the team at next week's home game per usual and you will look like a fool.

What's "kind of weird at this point" is that people such as the OP continuing to throw out baseless speculation that hints at some kind of bad attitude and mid-season transfer intentions about Cade.

It's unfounded and unfair,

After the season will he transfer?  Well, he's been passed on the depth chart and will have his degree.  So, I'd say the odds are pretty high.  That will be our loss and someone else's gain.  The guy helped give us a Big Ten championship and was a great leader for the team.  We should wish him well in whatever he chooses to do.

Imagine being a B1G champion QB, beating OSU for the first time in eons, being elected Team Captain, losing your starting job to a talented underclassman, getting hurt, rehabbing and trying to get healthy to get back to your newly minted backup role, only to have some dude on the internet be like “this dude is quitting on everyone and leaving the team” because he doesn’t understand how travel rosters work. Yeesh. Cade is probably transferring out next year and he probably should because he is a talented qb and a competitor but this kind of post is trashy speculative BS, and I hope the mods MGoArchive it

I am in favor of deleting this string.  We prefer information or entertainment, and this post has neither.

You can only travel with so many, and he isn't able to play, so he didn't travel with the team, just like All didn't, Roman Wilson didn't and Hill-Green didn't.

Players who are injured should not, do not travel because the travel roster rules force coaches to just take players healthy enough to play (and not all of them!).

Injured players don't travel. It's just that simple. He was active on the sidelines for the Maryland game with his lef in a boot.

I hope he gets his degree and we find a way to end his time with the team on a high note.

Quite possibly it's still on the board because I've been on the road since 11:45 am, driving back from half a week in the UP.

The thread is locked đź”’ right now and I'm in the process of reading through it to see if anyone has earned a banning, temporary or otherwise.  I'm leaning heavily towards deleting the whole damn thing but I'm not there yet.

Charles Pierce's Rule of Headlines: if there's a question mark in the headline, the answer is no.

Seriously though, the dude is a Team Captain. I don't think he would have been elected to or served in the position if he was going to transfer portal out mid-season. The most likely answer is he stayed in Ann Arbor because he's rehabbing his injury.

It's amazing how badly people want to make a thing out of Cade and the QB competition that they ignore or forget a well-known rule about how there is a limit to how many players can travel and how it would be stupid to have your injured backup QB take up one of those slots that could go to a player who can help on the field.

Hey, Cade is a solid B college QB, with little/no NFL in his future.  We liked him for 3 reasons:  1) great guy; 2) Beat tOSU/won B1G/CFP; 3) Best QB since Dennard.  I like him, but can't start him with a B+ possibly A+ QB in the wings.

I bet a bunch of you also still believe that Jabrill was actually injured for that bowl game and it wasn’t a ruse to cover up the fact that he was intentionally sitting out (before that became common).

I wanted to hop on with the logical reasons Cade was not there Sat. but they all seemed to be taken. So no free ups for me.

It is my birthday today so I got that going for me.
