DCC: Chuck Pagano
While many in the NFL are busy speculating about Harbaugh taking the Colts job when Pagano gets fired, not enough are talking about the possibility that Pagano finds a new home in Ann Arbor. This hire makes complete sense based on the timeline and the pace at which our coordinator search is moving. Pagano is in the Harbaugh family, having worked for John in Baltimore with Mattison. When the NFL season ends and Pagano is sent to the curb look for him to be packing his bags and heading North to Ann Arbor.

Pagano would be a good hire I would be shocked if he went to college to be a DC even with Harbaugh connections. But then again I thought Bush Jr. would commit to FSU....

speaking specifically, your spectacles are spectacular.

Uhhh, about the elephant in the room ... . Pagano was UNC's DC in 2007, and has refused to cooperate in the NCAA's investigation of academic fraud allegations re: that filthy program.
I'd want to know more about that situation before I supported this hire. It would be good on the football side of the equation. But there's more to this hire than that (although it's less of a critical issue than if he was up for HC).

would be a demotion/stupid.... This is different IMO because of his nephew and his ties to the Harbaugh family, no real NFL team worth risking a second firing. You know he won't take the Lions or Cleveland jobs, talk about a demotion, he could wait for the right job to open up while he has some good times in A2.

where have you been the last 50 yrs or so? Further who wants the Cleveland job? Somebody into pain. How much money would it take for a coach to lose his job in 3 years? Or take the Ravens to the promised land? 4 or 5 million boy howdy that sounds like a lot of money to me. I would be willing to bet you could make more with ten years on the job....

Clearly you slept through the Browns' last coaching search
In all fairness, so did the Browns.

are only coveted by people desperate for HC jobs, usually those without HC experience. Pagano can do WAY better.
Most every HC is eventually fired. But if you are fired from Detroit or Cleveland, you probably won't ever be fired again, because no one will ever HIRE you again.

I've replaced my Mel Tucker prediction with this prediction. Job well done, Petros.

They're still in the playoff race without their starting QB, something they couldn't say when Peyton went down under the S.S. Jim Caldwell. After beating cancer, I could see him wanting to get away from the craziness of the NFL and Jim Irsay.

...who's ready to can after one bad season with no QB, an aging RB (Gore) and an overpriced, aging starting WR (Andre Johnson). Plus, the opportunity to live in Ann Arbor and coach his nephew are pretty strong draws.

Here are the requirements of the new defensive coordinator:
- High Energy...this is necessary at the college level
- Intelligence...able to adapt to various offenses
- Great Recruiter...a must have if you want to be a NC contender
Check off each one of these and you have yourself a great DC!
