Dax Hill gets his first career start today

Mainly due to injuries, Dax Hill will get the start. Unfortunately, Tom Brady is on the other side. Brady will have his choice of rookie DBs to torment since Cinci's 2nd round pick, Cameron Taylor-Britt, is also starting.

Todd Bowles is not doing Brady any favors. He is obviously a good defensive coach but he is so fucking conservative. The Bucs have a bottom five offense yet Bowls kicks field goals from inside the 5 seemingly every game. You are playing the defending AFC Champions. You probably need to score a few points to win. All the talk that Brady is washed is ridiculous. The offensive coaching, line play, and running game is inept.

You’re not wrong, but a huge part of the issue is the OL has sustained so many injuries and lost key players to retirement or FA.

Tampa’s OL was really stinking good last year. Multiple Pro Bowlers and a first team All Pro (Tristan Wirfs) who was only in his second year in the league. Their starting center, Ryan Jansen, is more or less out for the year unless they get a deep playoff push. Tristan Wirfs is out and is week to week, Ali Marpet retired and was a Pro Bowler, and they lost Alex Cappas to FA. Their only remaining healthy starter from last season is Donovan Smith. Other than that, they’re playing a lot of rookies and career backups who on have no business being in the position they’re in.

Playcalling and defensive breakdowns? Yeah that’s definitely on Bowles. But it’s hard to get anything going on offense when the DL is in your face before you have time to get to your second read. Tampa has had extremely bad injury luck with the OL and that shits just random.

I’m not convinced he’s washed. Lots of personnel concerns with the Bucs this year. Plus as you said new head coach who definitely isn’t the type to help with offensive issues. I’m sure all of the off-season stuff hasn’t helped. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played well next year for whatever team he’s on. Wouldn’t mind the Lions getting a one year Brady rental and Super Bowl. That would be the moment I would question whether he really is human or some football angel sent from the heavens. It would be hilarious however if the Bucs win their division 2-3 games under .500 and then win the Super Bowl. It would be peak Brady and just so funny to see happen.

Today is his first start? Huh, I figured he played all year. Kinda rare for a 1st round pick to not start until now. I have a lot of his rookie cards so hopefully he never sits again.

I tuned into the game mid-3rd quarter and all I’ve seen is Brady taking a beating. If he’d retired like a sensible person after his SB win with TB he wouldn’t be getting this physical abuse, but he thought age and circumstances would never go against him. He was wrong.

He was great last year. Almost won an MVP. The Bucs have issues this year and we all know about his tumultuous offseason. I’m not sure he’s washed yet just a bad set of circumstances this year. Crazy thing is they are in 1st place and would be the 4 seed(!) if the playoffs started right now despite all of this. I already said it in this thread but it would be absolutely hilarious and such a Brady thing to do  if they got their shit together in the playoffs and won the whole thing.

Watched that game since the wife's friend is a huge Bengals fan, and my goodness the Bucs absolutely imploded in the second half in a way I'd never seen - and it was still probably only the fourth worst implosion in the NFL this weekend!
