Dan Mullen wants the Swamp at full capacity
...for when they play LSU next week.
He claims the crowd was a major factor in the Gators losing to A&M today.
October 10th, 2020 at 8:51 PM ^
I don't know what the crowd count was today at Texas A&M but they were packed together pretty good. Georgia looked crowded together too.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:34 PM ^
Georgia didn't look bad to me. You can't stop people from moving down and getting closer during the game, but it was by no means crowded, especially at game start.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:36 PM ^
Not crowded at game start = tailgating and sleepy students. We Michigan fans know this well.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
Every other row was empty and they had groups of 4 spaced out with big spaces between them on each bench. That's not crowded.
Student section was whatever I'm sure 5 minutes after kickoff.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:49 PM ^
I didn't see the Georgia game at the start but later on. They got a lot of heat for last week's game so people were probably trying to do a better job this week.
October 10th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
Why? GA and their Governor don’t seem to care about the number of covid cases.
Funky, don’t ban me!
October 11th, 2020 at 9:35 AM ^
Have you seen the case numbers around the country for the last two weeks? They're up almost everywhere. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle, and the political affiliation of a state's governor has little to do with it.
October 11th, 2020 at 10:36 AM ^
Cases are up everywhere, but they are up in schools—Georgia, Florida, Texas all at the top of the lost. Wisconsin is now surging because they, too, believe in dismantling public health mandates. My state continues to go up and is lucky tourist season is over or else it’d have gone up even more the past month. It’ll start to jump if they move kids back into schools in winter, but that’s the plan thanks to good ol’ governor.
October 10th, 2020 at 11:26 PM ^
I believe Georgia capped their crowd at 20,000. Unfortunately, being from the SEC, they thought that Social Distancing meant they should be close enough to pass a bottle to each other.
October 11th, 2020 at 11:40 AM ^
Ushers don't exist now? Why can't you stop people from crowding together, during a pandemic?
October 11th, 2020 at 2:58 AM ^
The student sections pack together because they don't care. And in those big stadiums if you let in 25% capacity and they all bunch down at the bottom, can't do much about it. A&M is a huge stadium and the top sections were empty, middle sections pretty sparse. So they just bunched at the bottom but it wasn't more than a quarter full.
The red river shootout seemed to do a very good job of spacing, though. I wonder if they enforced that better because it looked pretty evenly distributed.
October 11th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
The only spacing I saw was the missing teeth when they smiled.
October 10th, 2020 at 8:53 PM ^
Here's your chance to put your fandom on the line, Gators fans. If you won't risk your life for the team, do you even care about the team?
October 10th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
Well, Florida.
October 10th, 2020 at 11:30 PM ^
Where the hell was his cooler???
October 11th, 2020 at 2:34 AM ^
Who here has that kind of dedication!
October 11th, 2020 at 9:48 AM ^
I mean that takes skill.
October 11th, 2020 at 8:14 AM ^
Well, Floriduh also has a county sheriff who forbids his deputies to wear masks, and bans masks inside his station - even for citizens visiting for whatever reason. So I'm sure they'll find a stadium full of people to attend the game.
October 11th, 2020 at 12:55 PM ^
And Michigan has a sheriff who says that the Wolverine Watchmen may have just been trying to "arrest" Whitmer, which is legal and OK.
October 10th, 2020 at 8:55 PM ^
Have to always find someone or something else to blame.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
Florida’s governor lifted venue capacity limits for sporting events last week, so... if he wants them packed in... he needs to take that up with his own school’s leadership.
October 11th, 2020 at 2:59 AM ^
That's exactly what he said in the interview. Said the governor lifted the ban so he hopes the AD lets in 90k.
October 11th, 2020 at 7:15 AM ^
I think Mullen is a good football coach. As a public health expert, he is categorically insane.
October 11th, 2020 at 9:28 AM ^
It’s still not up to the idiot coach. It’s up to the school’s public health officials, who rightly told the idiot to go pound sand. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/mike-bianchi-commentary/os-sp-florida-gators-texas-am-mike-bianchi-1011-20201010-o2c6a5lr7rahllfky35vqeoflq-story.html

Mullen has never won his own division in his career. He’s overrated
October 11th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
Bill Belichick would not have won the SEC West at Mississippi State.
October 12th, 2020 at 8:44 AM ^
Whaaa??? I think the Patriots would have swept the division in undefeated style and made Bama look mortal...
October 11th, 2020 at 9:39 AM ^
DeSantis went from doing a victory lap right before his state got walloped by the virus, to saying "fuck it" and just letting his whole state get overrun by it and ditching any and all precautions
October 11th, 2020 at 8:16 PM ^
I have been in Florida for the last week, rules are the same as they are back home. You want to shop, go out to eat or go to any other public venue, you must be masked up. Majority of people seem to be following these guidelines.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
It wasn't the 12th man that gained 535 yards today.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
LOL. Maybe you just couldn’t get the job done today on the field - no?
October 10th, 2020 at 9:08 PM ^
Let him do it.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:13 PM ^
I’m starting to think that this troll knows what he’s talking about
October 10th, 2020 at 9:09 PM ^
Public health is secondary to making the CFP in the SEC.

Michigan must be ranked somewhere in the 1-4 range if ND is #5
October 11th, 2020 at 3:03 AM ^
Yeah, it's a joke they're ranked 5th but there seems to be a big cliff after the top four of Clemson, OSU, Bama and UGA. After that, who is there? North Carolina? PSU? Florida? I actually think Florida is probably the 5th best. Not really buying UNC or any of the ACC sans Clemson for that matter.
October 12th, 2020 at 9:52 AM ^
No offense, but after watching Georgia/Tennessee, unless they find a QB Georgia isn't in that top group either. They are very talented (I have DT envy) and the defense is big and mean, but that QB is very limited and due for a visit to the ER the way he plays.
That means in this Covid year you have 3 teams and maybe a wildcard 1 loss team. No reason Michigan can't be that wildcard just as well as anyone else.
October 11th, 2020 at 7:43 AM ^
Losing Patterson didn't make us THAT good!
October 10th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
Save it for the Georgia game, so it can be the World’s Largest Outdoor Super Spreader Event.
October 11th, 2020 at 7:11 AM ^
The White House has a football field now?
October 11th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
This is actually going to happen, right? Isn't that game typically played in Jacksonville?
October 10th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
Evolution in action.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:49 PM ^
I saw this on Twitter, but it appears that Mullen wants to run the first super Spread offense.
October 10th, 2020 at 9:54 PM ^
There were like 20-25k at the game. What a crybaby loser. I am so glad he is not our coach. Also you want to pack 90k in so you win a game? Is he psychotic or that nervous about losing his job.
It’s incredibly stupid to put that many people in one stadium for a game. Even if everyone is wearing a mask, which they will not, you are just asking for large numbers of people to be infected from an event that size.
October 10th, 2020 at 10:13 PM ^
He's hit the Harbaugh Plateau. Turned around an abysmal program, but doesn't have the talent to match the big boys in the conference
October 11th, 2020 at 3:06 AM ^
Eh, he lost at the buzzer to a very good A&M team on the road. Still a clear path to the SEC title game. We'll see how they do against UGA. They have good talent (like M) and they actually have a QB and offensive playcalling (unlike M under Harbaugh previously).
October 11th, 2020 at 11:21 AM ^
Eh, I'd say it remains to be seen how good A&M is. Mond looks to have taken a step forward but this is still a Texas A&M program that hasn't topped nine wins since 2012.
October 10th, 2020 at 10:53 PM ^
Another potential super spreader event. People need to listen to the science.
