Dang, that's pretty disappointing. I remember how hype the coaches supposedly were when he committed. I guess we had a glut of guys at safety this year and playing time is at a premium. Maybe this means Zeke Berry is about to break out?

In any case, best of luck, Damani

This is disappointing, but also a very deep position where it looks like guys like Berry and Sabb have asserted themselves more. Was always gonna be a few guys from that 2022 DB class who were gonna transfer out

Depth chart starting to sort itself out... If you are jaded about being behind you have a couple options position switch or transfer to clearer depth chart and fill a need. I hate it but it is what it is now... Excited for Berry and Sabb think they have bright futures.

"If you are jaded about being behind you have a couple options position switch or transfer to clearer depth chart and fill a need."

Or, you could make the decision to stay, battle for playing time, and take advantage of a great educational opportunity.

Is this corny, old-fashioned, and hopelessly out of date with respect to the reality of college football being little more than a semi-pro operation in 2023?

Guilty as charged.

Like there aren’t other great universities that offer a great educational opportunity and playing time.

There could be countless other reasons for the move too so spare me the stay and tough it out stuff. Football is a fickle game with a short window to possibly play.

Best of luck to Damani.

An off-field issue last summer caused Dent to not be with the team in 2022. When he came back he was wearing #36 on the sideline of the spring game, barely playing, and still reportedly "in the doghouse."

The handle "FarrellPortal" makes me look forward to the time when THE PORTAL combines with ChatGPT to become fully aware.  Then we'll see tweets like this:

When Hillman joined the team Dent started pondering a transfer. I had heard from a friend in the athletic dept - not directly related to the football team that Berry was making great strides and might bump Paige or Moore off some snaps. Also said Dent was actually looking more impressive than Sabb at times.

I guess Dent felt squeezed out. He’s gonna be good.

Should come as no surprise. He was a bad fit in the locker room, he had trouble with teammates and even an incident with an OL (not related to football). Best for everyone that he move on.

I don't think it is fragile to request that you not bash players and coaches with what is largely unsubstantiated "insider" info. Seth's post stating "rumored off-field issues" covered it. For being widely know, there were a ton of people that (myself included) that never heard about this.

I would say it is a fragile to need to boost your own ego by bashing strangers with your super special insider info. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree.

Takes me back to my college radio days when I'd occasionally slip into my early Sunday morning playlist some utterly unexpected and totally offbeat 45s from the station's vast library of sixties music after I'd randomly pulled some records off the shelves.

Well that sucks. Good luck in the future. I liked him better than Sabb and thought him and Zeke would be our starting safeties for a couple years.
