Eh, I could do without all the staring and jawing afterwards. Act like you should have been able to do it.

Heaven forbid a teenager get emotional during a game after a huge play. Shame on him.

A huge play? He stole the ball and dunked it. I agree with the excessive jawing, but I know that wont be a problem when he gets on campus. If any player on our team does something like that I think Hoke would serve them up some humble pie.
December 17th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
He stole the ball and then dunked on somebody.
A regular uncontested fast break dunk is no big deal, but when its contested and you dunk on somebody, it is always a big play.
December 17th, 2012 at 12:06 PM ^
Stupid
December 17th, 2012 at 12:31 PM ^
So do you just not watch football? Every time a CB makes a play, even if he doesn't make a play he stares and jaws and waves his arms. When a LB makes a big hit, what does he do? Stands over the guy and talks.
NBA/college players do the exact same thing if they dunk on somebody. And for the love of god the kid is 18 years old at the oldest. Some of you guys want these kids to come in and be perfect in every way.
Yeah he maybe kept it going a little too long but let the kid show emotion.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
And it annoys me just the same. The only plays where any kind of self promoting celebration is warranted (IMO) are:
1) TD
2) INT/fumble (although fumble should be a team celebration not the groin thrust look at me celebration)
3) 3rd down stop when not in FG range or getting a FG does them no good
4) 4th down stop
I suppose I'll grant feats of amazing athletic ability that result in a first down but I cringe every time I see a player acting like a complete fool after catching a routine pass that gets a first down or when a player acts like a complete fool on anything other than 3rd/4th down. How many times have we seen teams convert on 3 & 20+? Yeah, that great amazing play you had on 1st and 2nd down don't mean sh!t if they still get the first down.

there were so many rules.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
Some of us would prefer a little more restraint and dignity. I'm sorry if that makes you feel self conscious about your emotional outbursts. Also, some of those some of us are just barely older than 18, and so don't buy your age argument.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:52 PM ^
I'm also barely older than 18. My point with the age thing is he's young. He's a kid. How many high school basketball players can control that emotion AFTER dunking on someone? Not very many I would think. That's my point.
Look, I didn't say it was right and I didn't say it was wrong. Would it have been nice to see him just walk away without the talking and chest pounding? Absolutely. That would've been perfect. But I'm not gonna sit here and criticize the kid for showing emotion. Especially after doing something like that. You learn as you get older.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
My opinion:
Celebrating a great play in the middle of the game with your teammates = good.
Celebrating a great play in the middle of the game by getting in the face of an opposing teams player = not so good.
If you want a visual example of "good" watch how Charles does it.

December 17th, 2012 at 11:43 PM ^
Your point is true. It definitely is a good thing not to hoot and holler in your oponents face. It is obnoxious and disrespectful. That being said, when you celebrate, you usually show emotion immediately. If you are all by yourself, like Charles was, it's easy to avoid confrontation. When you just dunked on someone and they are standing a foot from you at the end of the play, any celebration looks like taunting regardless of intent.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:01 PM ^
It's high school basketball and he stole the ball and dunked it all over the kid. That doesn't happen often in high school. Not only that, but he grew up watching college and NBA players do the same thing when they make a similar play.
December 17th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
York was dangerously close to a technical for his "celebration." Luckily, he'll have plenty of role models and coaches in training camp who will teach him how to act like he's been there before.
December 17th, 2012 at 8:41 PM ^
York is a lot like most high school star athletes - he's a big fish in a small pond. He's the best athlete around.
When he gets to Michigan, that will change. And if he becomes a big fish at Michigan, then he can probably get away with that stuff to an extent.
December 17th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
I'm guessing that the "jaw-jacking" on the football field isn't noticed as much because...............................their helmets are on?

There is a bunch of non-athletes that probably never played a lick of comeptitve sports outside of tee-ball on this blog. You guys are a trip

Everyone who can dunk is automatically a great WR, duhhh
December 17th, 2012 at 12:38 PM ^
62 points in and you've already mastered the emotion "butthurt". Also, I ,and I am sure many others used to play competitive sports through college. Never did play tee-ball though. I'll agree that it is harder to dunk on somebody in a game, but that's due to lack of opportunity. Dude was pretty unabated to the rim, the defender got up there too late. Still good to see he has ups.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:36 PM ^
Well let me clarify more. Most on here probably never dunked on someone in a game. Nothing wrong with what he did. Just because you have a gazillion points for posting all day doesn't make your comments valid. Sorry but I have a FT job. Just happen to be on vacation today.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:01 PM ^
My guess is if this clip would have come equipped with an eGraph explaining what just happened the worshippers of this blog would have been amazed!

Ooh... cool taunt, bro. I have a full time job too. And a wife. And a house. And I can beat you up. And nobody with a professional position would call it an FT job, that's clown shit. And my son can beat you up. And my dog can beat up your dad. And your mother is a whore. Now what you aspersion casting piece of shit?
See how annoying that is?
Man, you must think everyone on a message board is some fat old loser who collects unemployment.

if you are employed, someone is overpaying you for the amount of work you do. Seriously, how can you post so much and hold down a job?
December 18th, 2012 at 1:16 AM ^
Check my history. I've probably only posted like 10-20 times a month. I just had an account during the old ranking system, when saying something meaningful got multiple points per post. You'll need to work on that, as it's coming back..
I can't believe I'm even arguing about this...
December 17th, 2012 at 4:48 PM ^
You came up with all of that at work?

If you watch a lot of high school basketball, that's pretty much a 6 out of 10 dunk for a big-time athlete. Not that I want to pump up an MSU commit or anything, but you should see Drake Harris flush it. It's like he doesn't have to try.
December 17th, 2012 at 12:08 PM ^
as opposed to that completely fake, sham dunk that so many homer Michigan fans are alleging that Stauskas made.
December 17th, 2012 at 12:28 PM ^
in the game? Maybe there was already tension in the hall? Some of you people--including some of you internet "athletes"--are easily impressed.

SMH at some of the comments here. Jeez oh pete, people....get in the spirit of the season and lighten the F up. It doesn't matter what side of the fence I sit on, it's just a matter of people seem to bicker about anything and everything these days.
Nice dunk young man. It's good to know you'll be wearing Maize and Blue in the Fall.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

The one thing I will say about this, is that it looks like he can palm the basketball pretty easily. Having big hands is a benefit as a WR.
