are you taking it personal that he called someone out for posting all day? Why don't you post some more about it.
December 17th, 2012 at 7:01 PM ^
Did I say anything about him posting all day? I'm laughing at him for telling another poster that Caris LeVert can dunk on him because he watched him in high school. That's pretty funny.

I'm not sure Brundidge was a full 6'0", so not a great example.
My point above wasn't that all 6'3" athletes can dunk, just that a 6'3" athlete being able to dunk doesn't mean he has great athleticism. It means he has pretty good athleticism, but not something that's going to make us all say "thank God we offered that guy!"
Look, I think York will be good. Just not because of this clip.

Whatchu mean "those kids"?
December 17th, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
Does he have a "chip in his shoulder" for security reasons?
December 17th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
I would bet you $1,000 that Brundidge can dunk.
I played on a good (but not great) high school basketball team where everybody on the team was a white boy between 6'0" and 6'6". All were 'good' athletes, none were great, and probably at least half played a D2 or D3 sport in college. Every last guy on that team could dunk a basketball, and the layup lines we ran at the end of every 2 hour practice session, when we were tired, were dunkfests.
A Big Ten scholarship athlete in sports like basketball and football, a guy better be 5'8" or less before I'm betting he can't dunk. A 6'3" skill position athlete like York is basically going to be a dunking machine, which is what made the clip relatively unspectacular.
I would call it 50/50 that Vincent Smith can dunk. With these types of athletes, there is absolutely nothing 'normal' about their abilities.

he stared that dude down tho. lol
i certainly hope he's staring Ohio State DBs down in a few years.
December 17th, 2012 at 1:02 PM ^
awesome to see, perhaps at "a basketball" at the end of the sentence to cease people from having a mini panic attack by thinking a "r" is in that word
December 17th, 2012 at 1:22 PM ^
If this a true example of the athleticism of a 3star recruit I bet a lot of parents/coaches/kids need to reflect for a second on what their expectations should be of their own kid/themselves when it comes to being recruited.
Without knowing full context, I don't mind his attitude after the play. I was just like that in HS but that all disappeared as soon as I got to the BIG. Environment created by BIG coaches is entirely different than any HS environment. Plus Rochester was less than sporting whenever I played them anyway.

He's got a sick kid n play haircut thats for sure.

It's too bad how negative and cynical the blog has gotten this year.
If Blake Griffin did this, it would be one of the top plays on Sportscenter. yet everyone is downplaying it. Be excited for the future Michigan man,
That was a nice steal, a great dunk over the top of someone and worth the watch.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:16 PM ^
If Blake Griffin did this it would be over another ultra-elite NBA player.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:05 PM ^
Why do you feel the need to call him a "lower rated" commit? Can't he just be a commit? You're a lower rated fan.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
Not sure if you can tell in the clip, but this was at the buzzer to end the half.
December 17th, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
So funny how people on the internet judge people, that was a great dunk and on somebody on top of if it. To say well this is from one of our lower recruits is just crazy. If Dymonte cant dunk hes not athletic then right? Any one can dunk if they work at it, but being able to do it in a game at full speed and on someone not everyone can do. Just tired of all the grown ass people on this blog, thinking that these KIDS are perfect or crazy not to come to michigan, or isnt very good because you watched a 10 min clip.

Shane Morris lost The Game, so I'm pretty sure he's going to be terrible
December 17th, 2012 at 3:40 PM ^
Nice to see that one of the lower rated commits in this class has the athletic ability to do this
He never said "...because York can dunk he'll be a good WR."
You do agree that takes some above average athleticism, right?
It's fine to post this video and it's fine to say "Damn, that's a nice dunk". To downplay this is being negative for no reason.
It's ok to acknowledge a nice play without meaning this kid is going to be the best WR in Michigan history.
December 17th, 2012 at 7:10 PM ^
Well I sure hope the guy Brady Hoke offered a full football scholarship has above average athleticism.
The funny thing is, if the OP had said, "Look at this cool clip of our recruit" this whole argument wouldn't exist. But because the OP suggested that York's dunk shows off athleticism, don't be surprised when a number of posters are less than impressed by that.
December 17th, 2012 at 7:45 PM ^
So by your standards we should delete all of the "highlight reel" plays made by our players. I mean, I sure hope the guys Hoke puts on the field have above average athleticism.
Just say it was a nice dunk and move on. It DID display above average athleticism and so does all of the other highlight reels, that's why they're being highlighted.

This is a rediculous argument.
He didn't just go up and jam in warmups, the kid went up, one handed, hung in the air, and slammed over someone. That takes an incredible amount of athleticism. Will it translate over onto the football field, dunno. Spare us all the "he's 6'3, he should be able to dunk".
December 17th, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
The point is, he will dunk the FG post due to the many TDs he'll be grabbin'

This is awesome. The jawing. The staring. All awesome. Also, I loved the Fab 5. I also love Barry Sanders. So there.
December 17th, 2012 at 11:13 PM ^
100% agreed. Although they were complete opposites in how they handled big plays and their respective games, in general, I loved both equally. I only wish Barry had stayed around to set records no one will touch.

playing BBall, healthy, dunking and having a good time. It's officially winter time.
Now wake me when Hurst tomahawk dunks in a game . . .

He looks to have gained a little weight over the course of the last six months. He looked really skinny during the summer's 7 on 7 tourneys.

Also, nice Hoke cameo in that clip.
