Cream of the crop games, week 5

Thursday Night 7:30pm:

It's the only one on Thursday night.

Friday Night 8:00pm:

The "numbers" say Maryland wins. But as Mike Tyson says, "Everyone has a plan until they get hit in  the mouth." Iowa will be doing the hitting. Maryland will supply the mouth. I just can't see Maryland being tough enough to compete with Iowa for 4 qtrs. And, be ready to yawn watching Iowa's offense.

Saturday 12:00 noon:

The good guys! I know Wisconsin is having a rough year. But they're at home. And they're Wisconsin. They will come out firing. I still remember those beautiful throws by Cade McNamara to Nick Eubanks and Mike Sainristil in last years Wisconsin game. I hope the Michigan passing game runs well this year. I love seeing Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, and Daylen Baldwin running wild! GO BLUE!

I don't know how good Arkansas is yet. This is a big game for both teams. The winner continues with a run at the playoffs. The loser goes behind the 8 ball for the playoffs.

Saturday 2:30pm:

Neither of these teams has the toughest schedule in the world. So this game will be significant for playoff considerations. This might be a great one.

Saturday 3:30pm:

Alabama isn't looking like the juggernaut they looked like in week 1. I think they are still going to win. But Ole Miss might score more than most think they will:

Saturday 7:30pm:

Boston College is 4-0 and has designs on winning the ACC. A win in this game would be the biggest step toward that. But it's at Clemson:

Saturday 10:30pm:

This could turn out to be a good one to end the day. And it's on FS1. So it should be available to everyone. There has been some kind of problem for some people with getting the late Pac-12 game.

Good list.

I'm really curious about Stanford and the game against Oregon.

Kansas State, who beat Stanford, but lost to Oklahoma State - can they hang with Oklahoma?

Ohio State vs Rutgers. Going to keeping a really close eye on that one.

In reality, I'm going to watch every game that's close in the 4thQ and within 1 score with 5 minutes or less left in the game. That's how I roll.

I think we're going to find out a lot about OSU today - especially that putrid defense.  Am I saying that OSU isn't very good - of course not but I'm in a wait and see mode.  They're going to score a ton of points but can that defense stop anyone ? The next few weeks will be critical

Some good games. Hope M wins so I will be in a good mood to watch these games. I will also be curious how MSU play after last week's second half and how Rutgers play.

Same.  Penn State, I'm relatively confident is a good team.  Michigan State, after last week's close call vs Nebraska (not enough posters here watched because Sparty legit should have lost that game AT HOME) is facing a dangerous  Western Kentucky team that could potentially pull an upset.

And obviously I'll be watching Rutgers/Ohio State as well to see if Rutgers really is that much better or if we just laid an utter egg in the 2nd half.  Also, Rutgers is the toughest team Ohio State has faced since Oregon by a wide margin so it'll be interesting to see if CJ Stroud has made progress or if the defense is still a mess.

Tough one, but I'd have to take the points with Arkansas.

ND +2 at home.

Definitely UCLA -3 vs ASU. That might be double digits.

And GO BLUE in Madison.

Interesting list, especially liked seeing those ticket prices.

$8 (plus fees) will get you a seat @ Hard Rock Stadium to see the Cavs vs Canes; $57 for Michigan@Wisconsin is only about 1/3 what the cheapest ticket went for last time we played at Camp Randall.

Wisconsin is always a tough out in Madison. I have no problem admitting that the “Jump Around” is one of the most awesome in game traditions out there in college football.

We are going to find out who some of the pretenders are and who are the contenders.BC’s last drive before OT was nearly perfect.Jeff Hafley imo is one of the guy’s not to sleep on for the USC job imo. Great young football mind and recruiter.

Is Arkansas the real deal? Will Kiffin do well against his former boss? Is Cincinnati a contender? What will OSU vs Rutgers show us, an improving OSU defense or will Schiano school the guy that took his job, lol?  Maryland is better than some think imo, offensively at the very least.

Some good games on Saturday. I think Michigan beats Wiscy and hope Cincinnati blows out ND, Ole Miss gives Bama a scare and Clemson bows out of the top 25 after a loss to BC.

Ah man, another decent week of games but I feel like the times are terrible. I'm kind of annoyed by the Big Noon kickoff because it moves games that used to be on at 3:30 to the 12 o'clock slot (probably because they're afraid of the SEC which frustrates me even more). In other scheduling complaints: I feel like the NFL killed the Thursday night college game. There used to be some great games over the years but now I think they don't dare put up a decent game against incredible pro matchups like the Bengals and Jaguars (sorry, I'll stop being a crank).

I wouldn't be so sure about Iowa. I live in DM and watch the Hawks every week and no team consistently plays to the level of their opponent like Iowa does. This is probably the best team Maryland has had in a while and they'll be psyched up  and it's a major trap game for the Hawks. [NOTE: I should add, for the record, that I think Iowa will win, but it could be tough. And they're not exactly the type of team that shows up and punches someone in the mouth.]

Iowa always seems to be trailing a crappy team at halftime by a score of 17-7 or so and then comes back in the 4th quarter.

Maryland’s coach is not happy this game is on Friday night since they already played a Friday night game this year.  He wondered aloud if it’s because they’re  “the new kid” in the conference.

I’ve got Cincinnati being exposed as who they are. Small fish in a big pond.
OSU absolutely throttles Rutgers and Bama winning big. Maryland over Iowa and Georgia pummeling Rkansas. UCLA is a fraud but I think they win, same with Oregon.  Oklahoma is gonna lose a game or two but not starting this week. And as much as I don’t wanna go against the grain here, wiscy takes our lunch money in embarrassing fashion.
