Covid Beats Michigan Hockey
Awww man...
Moving this up as posted down in the thread by Steve Sharik... Don't like the smell of this...
The decision was made by the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee, in consultation with the NCAA Medical Advisory Group.
The move by the NCAA served as disappointing — and baffling — news for the program.
"I'm devastated for these players. These student-athletes have done a wonderful job all year of making sacrifices to get to this point of the year," head coach Mel Pearson said in a statement. "It's unfortunate. I don't completely understand the final decision but I have to respect it."
Hm. I'll be interested to hear the outcome of this one. If the team got booted due to some weird technicality or contract tracing thing and nothing 'concrete' that's going to be infuriating. The folks running NCAA hockey are consistently terrible
Terrible news ??
Well fuck
We are cursed
I have been saying that for years.
While that UMD playoff hockey juju just rolls on...
Covid is fast. I literally just read the front page hockey post.
Son of bitch. Shit.
Tito Puente is going to be dead, and you're gonna say "I've been listening to him for years, I think he's fabulous."
"YOU CAN'T LEAVE! ALL THE PLANTS WILL DIE!"
"Lee Harvey, you are a madman. When you stole that cow, and your friend tried to make it with the cow? I want to party with you, cowboy."
Heartbreaking
Fuck fuck fuck
I'll say it:
I hope the BB teams (yes, the women BB as well) stayed clear of this.
Did the basketball teams stay in Indy & San Antonio? With ND already dropping out for hockey seems like there might have been an outbreak there.
Yes, the bball teams have been bubbled since their tourney's started. The men have been holed up in Indy since the B1G tourney. So they should remain safe, and are certainly isolated from the hockey travails...
Van Wyhe super spreader
This is soul-crushing.
We didn't even get a chance to play for the 10th National Championship in Hockey...
Bummer. Howard and KBA please protect our players!
I can only wonder if it happened at the BTHT. Bummer.
Get well, all.
I was thinking this exactly. With Notre Dame withdrawing as well it wouldn't surprise me.
Goddammit
I alluded to this possibility in a thread yesterday. With Michigan’s first testing day being Wednesday, I thought there would have been a decision made on whether or not we’ll play already. ND’s decision was made the same day as their testing, so I thought Michigan would be in the clear despite the rumors of a positive test within the team.
Another possibility for the late removal is they tested Wednesday, everything checked out, and the rumors were false. But they tested again today and that’s when they found the positive(s). Forcing a late removal.
Not sure spread happen at big ten tournament because Wisconsin playing as we speak and Minnesota has no issues. If it was van wyhe didn’t they leave him at home?
they did, he didn't make the trip
Well outbreak wasn’t from big ten tourney. Wisconsin is playing as we speak. Down 2-1 in 2nd period. How many guys will we lose in offseason?
Damn.
Basketball is next
You shut your whore mouth and apologize
I love me some Kelly's Heros. The Flower Power Donald Sutherland character did not quite fit the era, however.
Maybe Oddball was the first beatnik?
"I'm drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know."
Classic case of a movie taking on the character of the era it was made over the era it was portraying.
Hollywood, TV and movies both, are terrible at portraying anything vaguely period specific. The sets, costumes and vehicles are top notch. Then they have to write the script. Ugh.
I thought the draw was really crappy at first, but the more this site previewed it the more and more excited I was becoming. Not to mention, sure, NoDak is at home but it isn't like they'd have a home crowd. Just...damn, man. If AIC wins tonight, lol...that would just figure.
You gotta play it safe even with just one positive and can't risk compromising the whole event, but this completely ruins my day. Cant imagine how the players are feeling. Classic dong kick to the collective M-nation. Every year we get a new one in.
I thought we were in the clear yesterday or two days ago and that everyone cleared protocol? ah well, shit.
this news does not please me....
Ah yes, the 15th month of 2020 continues to take no prisoners.
C'mon guys. No excuse for that.
I blame the NCAA.
Can we blame this on ND and the BTHT? Such BS!
Dick punch on a Friday afternoon.
It's good for some of us who need a reminder that it's there.
This is curious:
