Consuming Michigan/College Football Content After a Loss?

Submitted by Caesar on January 10th, 2023 at 6:41 AM

After losing to TCU, I haven't consumed any college football, including TCU postmortems (Roundtable/Podcast). I'm only vaguely aware that Georgia beat TCU because my Twitter timeline is all about Georgia taking them 'seriously.' I might circle back round to some of the content in the offseason, I guess.

Not exactly sure why I'm posting this up. I guess I'm concerned that it's a personality defect to not want to engage after a loss, but then, MGoBlog is probably not the right place to get that kind of feedback. Anyway, maybe others have some insight about it.

I went to the Rose Bowl January 2nd because it was a bucket list experience.  I watched a little of the NC, shut it off at 24-7. Still haven't rewatched the TCU game even tho I know I made it on tv.

Did not watch one snap of game last night, next college game I watch will be in 23.Watched Top Gun Maverick instead, excellent movie btw.Georgia barely beat a shorthanded Ohio team in the semis,a team we ran out of their own stadium w/o our best offensive player. If Michigan is fully healthy with BC and DE everyone is ordering NC gear, but if wishes were horses beggars would ride. Was so disgusted and disappointed after TCU.Officiating and coaching was terrible.

basically from 2004-2019, with the exception of 2011, I'd be in depression after The Game. Sometimes i'd watch over thanksgiving, but I'd always be into it by bowl season. In 2020, my heart hurt a lot. But I'm an addict so I still watched some. In 2021, I was joyous. I didn't even care about the CFP loss. This year, the semi felt a bit like the game in year's past - it felt sick. If OSU had made that kick, it would have been worse. I still watched the Rose Bowl but it wasn't with the usual verve. Same with the natty.

In 2006 (2007 Rose Bowl), when we got pasted by USC, I was very bummed after the game. But then watched Boise St upset OU in the Fiesta Bowl that night. That brought me back real quick. every other year, I needed some time. Reading about CFB would make me sad. This year it took me approximately 10 days. I'm pumped.

We're the only playoff team - heck the only top 7 team - returning our QB. We return all 6 of the TDs we scored against OSU, AND Blake Corum! We lose Olu, Mazi, Morris and DJ, and Ronnie Bell. Probably another OL as well, right? 8 returning starters on O and 8 on D is DAMN good.

Outside of that - 5 of the 6 ranked Pac12 teams return their QB, so they should be fun to watch. all 3 of the SEC's top 10 teams will have a new QB, with Joe Milton probably being the most experienced newcomer. Michigan is set up for a good shot at contending, and the rest of the country looks to be entertaining and have some turnover. I'm pumped! GAH IT'S ONLY JANUARY!

This is our best 2-year stretch since 1947-1948.

I am disappointed in the result of the TCU game, but really, we should be enjoying this.

It's important to keep perspective.

I just fast-watched the TCU game by focusing on our good stuff, of which there was quite a bit. Also wanted to see if the run game was as bad as it felt (was better than felt but not great). Passing was sick, as was the offense in the second half. Defense not so much.

I was all over the boards prior to. After I just kind of sunk back to my Hoke years. Today I’m just downright pissed at the total lack of effort the staff put into our gameplan. I want Harbaugh to stay but if he isn’t willing to run an offense that resembles the way he played, then see ya. Yes we’ll win lots of games in the big but will be exposed by other conferences top teams. A few years ago I’d have loved to be in this position, still do, but this may be the ceiling with Jim.

Perfectly normal behavior. College football is entertainment, if it doesn’t provide that for you there’s no reason to keep consuming the content. Take a break, do something that brings you joy. It’ll still be here when you’re ready to come back.

Iol personality defect?

I can't watch big game anymore. I saw the first 2 drives of the TCU game and that's it. I didn't see either OSU game live. Didn't see the Purdue game this year until I checked my phone late and we were up 2 scores.

Unfortunately, I just can't handle it anymore and with all the fucking commercials, losses are compounded by the fact that I just spent 4 hours being miserable. So then I get upset about that. It's a rabbit hole.

I hate it, I should probably seek some type of support for it. But right now my coping mechanism is just to avoid it.

Nothing I like more than a Michigan/Hawaii matchup it Michigan/UConn...even Michigan/inept Iowa offense.

I've just grown to HATE being miserable and the lows that losses bring. So I just don't risk it.

It sucks, but it's for the better.

But no, there is nothing wrong with you...me on the other hand? Hoo boy, hot mess express.
