College Game Day Open Thread

From Columbus OhNo.

It will be very interesting to hear all the takes on the insanity that has overtaken college football in just the last few months:  NIL, the Portal, a 12 team playoff, 2 billion dollar super-conferences . . .

Oh, and there are some games today too.

I don’t know if I will feel happy that one of ND/OSU is losing, or sad that one of ND/OSU is winning.  Since we seem to fight ND for recruits a lot, it would be great to see them curb stomped, especially by the team we throttled in November. OTOH, seeing OSU lose is always a cause for rejoicing.  The Buckeyes expect to win it all this year, so their fans will be devastated if they lose today.

I think I want ND  to lose (not OSU to win).  We will get our shot to take down OSU again, and if we are good enough to do that then we are also likely undefeated or a 1-loss team going into that game.  And the heat will be on Day even if we are their only loss of the regular season.  There will be talk of John Cooper, and it will be quite enjoyable.

On the flipside, ND is riding high on the Freeman new coach smell and has been recruiting very well.  It would be nice to see them have a rough season and see many of those prized recruits start looking elsewhere, which would likely include Michigan.  Otherwise, we have to hear about how ND is back and deserves an autobid to the playoffs even without joining a conference, and that Freeman (formerly of OSU, don't forget) is a genius.  I will pass on that, thanks.

The bottom line: OSU is going to destroy ND.  Badly.

There's no way to watch this game where you can take the good without the bad.  On one hand, Irish losses are always great because FUCK Notre Dame.  And if this helps recruiting in any way, great.  But you're also going to see very happy Buckeye fans (gag me) and the announcers are going to have orgasms every single time Stroud completes any pass over 5 yards.  Soooooo....proceed with caution I guess?

Did Old Dominion defeat Virginia Tech… again?

I believe you can cross the Hokies off any potential conference expansion lists - IF they were on that list in the first place.

Let’s go ND….  Let’s go ND…. Let’s go ND!!!

This is not for the Bucks game - it’s for the Huskers game.  North Dakota (ND) plays Nebraska.

Eff the Irish…

Indiana and Illinois was tough to watch last night, both teams are very limited.  Illinois got the royal BIG TEN ref screwed job that cost them 4 points and subsequently, the game.

Clifford looked terrible against Purdue until Purdue's prevent defense prevented them from winning the game....

Sparty was outgained and in a dogfight against the Broncos with a QB starting is first college game.  But all Sparty will talk about is how they had a rushing game and how the Sparty tough'd out the game.  Whatever....

Just looking for as clean of a game (execution wise) from Michigan.  The closer they do that the larger this blowout will be....
