College Game Day Open Thread
From Columbus OhNo.
It will be very interesting to hear all the takes on the insanity that has overtaken college football in just the last few months: NIL, the Portal, a 12 team playoff, 2 billion dollar super-conferences . . .
Oh, and there are some games today too.

Opening at the Toilet Bowl in Columbus. Yuck...
But GAMEDAY IS BACK!!!!!
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:06 AM ^
I'm looking for some 42-27 signs.
Anybody live near Columbus? We have a mission for you. Your nation needs you.

ND wins 42-27. The Suckeyes just can't get away from that score
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
It warms my heart seeing all those fans in the background and knowing they were all absolutely miserable last November
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
I don’t know if I will feel happy that one of ND/OSU is losing, or sad that one of ND/OSU is winning. Since we seem to fight ND for recruits a lot, it would be great to see them curb stomped, especially by the team we throttled in November. OTOH, seeing OSU lose is always a cause for rejoicing. The Buckeyes expect to win it all this year, so their fans will be devastated if they lose today.
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:33 AM ^
The dilemma is real...
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:42 AM ^
Yeah, we seem to definitely battle ND for more recruits than we do with OSU. Plus, if you visit their boards, the ND a-holes are still jawing about stealing QB Carr from us. Guess I'm rooting for the meteor

I think I want ND to lose (not OSU to win). We will get our shot to take down OSU again, and if we are good enough to do that then we are also likely undefeated or a 1-loss team going into that game. And the heat will be on Day even if we are their only loss of the regular season. There will be talk of John Cooper, and it will be quite enjoyable.
On the flipside, ND is riding high on the Freeman new coach smell and has been recruiting very well. It would be nice to see them have a rough season and see many of those prized recruits start looking elsewhere, which would likely include Michigan. Otherwise, we have to hear about how ND is back and deserves an autobid to the playoffs even without joining a conference, and that Freeman (formerly of OSU, don't forget) is a genius. I will pass on that, thanks.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:00 AM ^
This is a painful, yet reasonable take.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
The bottom line: OSU is going to destroy ND. Badly.
There's no way to watch this game where you can take the good without the bad. On one hand, Irish losses are always great because FUCK Notre Dame. And if this helps recruiting in any way, great. But you're also going to see very happy Buckeye fans (gag me) and the announcers are going to have orgasms every single time Stroud completes any pass over 5 yards. Soooooo....proceed with caution I guess?
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:52 AM ^
Not so sure. I want to see the OSU defense before forecasting a big OSU win. Let's be honest, we weren't the only ones that carved up the OSU defense last year. Go back and look at their Oregon game earlier in the year. They've been horrible the last few years. I will admit their offense is lights out
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:17 AM ^
Having reviewed several responses and recalling several from past threads, here's the best-case scenario IMO: OSU wins handily but gives up a bunch of points while displaying a shaky and poorly organized defense. 55-35, maybe.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:26 AM ^
I rooted for Ohio State once, in the 1980 Rose Bowl wanting a national champion from the Big Ten. That was a mistake and I vowed never to root for them again. So go Irish!

Ryan Day's hair dye is putting on an incredible week 1 performance
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:57 AM ^
Dude looks like that one asshole that works at every office building throughout the country.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
He’s the ohio state “hair club for men” head football coach
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
Wow, those are some bags under his eyes. Must not be getting much sleep since last November 27th.
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:35 AM ^
Who's the girl in the teal pantsuit that replaced Maria Taylor? She looks like she wants to be JLo...
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:49 AM ^
Looks like someone they grabbed off Tik Tik to appeal to the teens that aren't going to watch anyway. She didn't have much to say and still had to read it off cue cards.

I thought it was a joke that she’s a pelaton instructor but then discovered she’s an actual pelaton instructor.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:03 AM ^
She is Jess Sims, a peloton instructor.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:30 AM ^
Peloton? I though Peloton was cancelled for causing (fake) heart attacks? Is that why she found a new gig?
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:17 AM ^
Well that seems perfectly relevant to college football. I guess Gordon Ramsey wasn't available.
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:56 AM ^
Did Old Dominion defeat Virginia Tech… again?
I believe you can cross the Hokies off any potential conference expansion lists - IF they were on that list in the first place.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:11 AM ^
Yes, it was glorious. The highlight of the game was when the second half was delayed because some Tech coaches were stuck in an elevator.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:02 AM ^
Corso is really fading. Just bring him out for the headgear pick and that's about it.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:25 AM ^
Yes. Last week was pretty cringeworthy also. They should pre-record his segments moving forward.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:19 AM ^
It's too bad. He seems like a nice guy but must not have much self-awareness, or he'd already be out to pasture.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
Probably time for some tough love. He’s a broadcast legend and Saturdays are going to miss something without him, but it’s time. This is starting to feel abusive and uncomfortable.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:09 AM ^
Let’s go ND…. Let’s go ND…. Let’s go ND!!!
This is not for the Bucks game - it’s for the Huskers game. North Dakota (ND) plays Nebraska.
Eff the Irish…
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:48 AM ^
Lee Corso. Ugh! Cringey.
They need to make him retire.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:49 AM ^
You had one job... It was about pancake blocks, and they interviewed Thayer Munford, #75, but seem to have forgotten about this.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:54 AM ^
That was beautiful
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:04 AM ^
PanCAKE!

Is the sec channel in Columbus pushing for 8 sec spots in the 12 team playoff yet?
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:16 AM ^
In a surprise to precisely no one.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
Delmar, I heard the SEC position on teams was - at least 7, but no more than 12 teams.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:59 AM ^
great pic. been a 100 yrs since i've been there, but i do remember. hopefully you got in the water and swam or surfed.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:14 AM ^
just got back from Dublin last night so my jetleg resulted in a 530am barefoot beach run, got in 10k this morning. best area of LA County, lived here for 13 years.
September 3rd, 2022 at 10:59 AM ^
MSU looked like dogshit and that Bronco TD being called back saved their ass from puckering up and sniffing an epic defeat.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:01 AM ^
the score looks a lot prettier than the game. if michigan won like that we'd have snowflake threads dripping with angst/fire harbaugh/time to move on, hot takes.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:38 AM ^
Indiana and Illinois was tough to watch last night, both teams are very limited. Illinois got the royal BIG TEN ref screwed job that cost them 4 points and subsequently, the game.
Clifford looked terrible against Purdue until Purdue's prevent defense prevented them from winning the game....
Sparty was outgained and in a dogfight against the Broncos with a QB starting is first college game. But all Sparty will talk about is how they had a rushing game and how the Sparty tough'd out the game. Whatever....
Just looking for as clean of a game (execution wise) from Michigan. The closer they do that the larger this blowout will be....
September 3rd, 2022 at 12:00 PM ^
DD - personally, I loved how MSU looked last night. Don’t change a thing…
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
I giggled and agree.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:03 AM ^
Only the Bucks would honor two scumbags like sweater vest and Maurice Clarett.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
Everybody lies, everybody robs banks, that’s the ohio way, right?
September 3rd, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
So, who is on the Bucks Mount Rushmore - Tressel, Meyer, Clarrett, Schlichter…great role models.
