College football begins TODAY!!!

Submitted by crg on August 24th, 2019 at 6:30 AM

I know many here "don't care" because UM doesn't play until next Saturday and this is only "Week 0" according to the media... whatever.

Honest-to-God D1-A football begins today, with four "FBS" teams playing, three of them being "P5" teams, and two are playing an actually "rivalry game" (sort of).

For those who spent the summer under a rock or in Columbus, here is what the rest of the world already knows:

Miami (FL) vs #8 UF. 7pm. ESPN. (Game played in Orlando, FL)

Ariz vs Hawaii. 10:30pm. CBSSN. (Game played in Australia).

For those who don't like paying for things, you can find free online streams of these games at https://www.reddit.com/r/CFBStreams/

Forgot to add in the OP that D1AA (or "FCS") starts this afternoon too:

Villanova @ Colgate. 12pm.  CBSSN

Youngstown St @ Samford.  3pm. ESPN

EDIT: Ariz is @ Hawaii, not in Aussie land.  For some reason I thought they were doing another down-under kickoff game.

it is some, but you can't have that kind of chill in august without crystal clear skies and we are having that day and night.  glorious sunshine for the last 2 weeks.  fields are dry (one rain, but more coming next week), but it makes for pleasant living.

Will Mean Joe be admitted?

I mean, not to a clinic for treatment of koala chlamydia, but to the game between Hawaii and Arizona?

I'm kind of happy that the games don't start until later, today.  I need to cut up a couple of trees that we lost in a rando T-storm Wednesday night.  On the bright side, I can season the wood and use them in the smoker - purple leaf plum and maple.  So benefit?  Eh, BENEFIT!!!

Might as well get something out of the loss of beloved trees...

Yeee! Im not trying to get overhyped, but im excited! I just picked up Hulu live for football season and they just added ACC network , so now i have SEC network, Big 10 network and ACC network , I highly recommend Hulu live tv , it seems like its best for sports especially college football.

I've been using GearsTV for the past few years. $15.50 a month and I get every channel including Starz, HBO, etc. Plus sunday ticket, extra innings, center ice, and all PPV events! Not sure why it hasn't caught on, I suppose it's because it's not a commercial company, just some guy who has an awesome network and lives in the grey area of streaming.

Last night I went to season the two pork shoulders and realized my wife bought two 9 lb roasts. Both of these games will be over by the time this finishes cooking.

Yep. Said we lost a lot of playmakers. Assuming everything is fine with Gattis, out offense will be great. Yes, they did lose a lot of guys on defense, but that is what recruiting is for. Also, I don’t care as much about defense as I do offense. All of the annually best teams lately have been scoring a lot on offense. That is modern football. Defense is secondary.

To win the title an elite offense paired with a good defense is needed. I’m very confident Brown can get at least a top 20 defense out of these guys. Not sure yet fun the offense can take he step from good to great.

Florida vs. Miami sounds like a much better game than we typically find in "week zero."

If you exclude the couple times they played each other in bowl games, they've only played 4 times in the last 30 years.  That's kind of strange but adds some intrigue, I guess.

Now if only the commentators will restrain themselves from referencing last year's Peach Bowl every five minutes....I hope.
