Citrus Bowl ratings are in

The Citrus Bowl was the 3rd highest-rated bowl game on New Year's, ahead of fhe Sugar Bowl, but just behind the OSU/ND Fiesta Bowl game. I think the national crowd was probably flipping channels between the Citrus and Fiesta.

Once the Fiesta Bowl moved out of the NYD afternoon timeslot, the Rose Bowl has owned the ratings on that day. Same goes for the Sugar Bowl with the Orange Bowl moving.

2008 had the billing of Carr's last game and against Urban/Tebow led Florida, who won the Natty the previous year.

This year was Harbaugh vs an offensively deficient Florida team that got crushed their previous two games.

Apples and oranges. This year's game had the same kick time as OSU-ND—pretty much the most difficult competition possible short of a playoff game. The 1/1/08 Capital One Bowl had no game starting within an hour of it. The closest was Texas Tech-Virginia(!) at noon.

that game obviously generated a huge amount of coverage. Most Gator fans here believe the B10 is a joke but they all fear anything to do with Michigan, with good reason, as they've been spanked three times by us now and even with their beloved golden boys Grossman and Tebow. Actually a lot of them respect Michigan and even root for them since Urban Liar bailed and went to that team in Ohio. You think Michigan fans are the only ones that hate OSU and the slimer think again.

I don't know all that Meyer did when at Florida, but he seems to be despised by SEC fans like no other. Before last year's semi - had a diehard Volunteer fan (keep in mind those folks are loyalists with a "never forgive Charles Woodson therefore root for OSU" hate of Michigan): "only thing on earth that has ever made me root for Michigan and Alabama is Urban Meyer".

win or lose a close one. Blow out was a surprise to all of us. Especially the run game success. Michigan QBs deliver against Florida. Henne was money last time too...

A few Florida people thought they would blow us out after what 'Bama did to Sparty.

It was fantastic! NYE is the only TV watching holiday is existence and tons of people got to stand around and watch football instead of a bunch of celebrities stroke each other's ego. Looking forward to having something useful to watch on NYE two out of every three years here on out.
