Title says it all. Not doing playoffs this year.  Possible replacements are Grant Hill or Jim Jackson.

Great player. Awful announcer. I cant believe I am saying this, but Jackson or Hill would both be much better options.

I dont watch the NBA, but Hill and Jackson were great during March Madness. It was nice not having to listen to Cweb.

To be honest, none of those 3 guys are particularly good as analysts. Hill is fine, but too often gets stuck on just narrating what's in front of him, which isn't particularly insightful; Jackson does a bit better at this, but still isn't great (perhaps he will get better with more reps). CWebb can do good analysis, but as mentioned previously, way too often gets side-tracked on tangents and puffing up players. He should find a studio role, or start a podcast.

In my experience, the best analysts are coaches, who are used to breaking plays down and thinking strategically. Jeff Van Gundy is awesome at diagnosing what the other team is doing, explaining it, and suggesting counters; his problem is he veers off into shtick (particularly when he is teamed with Mark Jackson, who is terrible) and to hyperbole, maybe b/c some producer has told him it's funny.

In short, the NBA is awash in excellent play-by-play people (e.g., Mike Breen; Kevin Harlan) and really need to work on getting good analysts.

Agreed!!! Hell, I might even watch the NBA if they'd just let the games be called by the TNT studio. Even if I didn't particularly want to watch the game (which I never do), I'd be thoroughly entertained by what that crew might do. I mean, does an NBA TV game really need play-by-play and a guy telling me that LeBron just made a great play?

It's honestly hard to think of really good analysts even on the regional League Pass broadcasts. Kelenna Azubuike with the Warriors and Alaa Abdelnaby with the Sixers stand out as pretty good, and of course Walt Clyde Frazier is a legend. Sarah Kustoc with the Nets might legitimately be my favorite -- she and Ian Eagle are great together. But I'm not sure any of the above would be a big step up over Jackson or Hill, let alone Van Gundy or Doris Burke.

Addendum: I haven't listened to him as much this year because the Raptors are such a trash fire, but Jack Armstrong is fantastic. I'm sure it'd get old if I tuned in more, but GET THAT GAAAHBAGE OUTTA HERE in a crazed Brooklyn falsetto is top notch as far as catch phrases go.
