Chase Winovich's first NFL sack!
Who cares if it's the preseason! Nice jump off the line to get around the tackle. Big* roar from the Michigan fans in the audience. Go Blue.
*for the preseason

Does it count since it was against the Lions?
August 8th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
The Lions couldnt beat the Michigan High School All-Stars. God are they bad.
to be fair - we counted it when he sacked the Rutgers QB....
August 11th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
True! Maybe give him a half sack. Hope he has a long NFL career
August 8th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
Man was he low to the ground as he turned the corner!
August 8th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
It was a good fake he gave the OLineman too, that opened up going low. He took a really direct line to the QB. Man, what a player!
Great pad level!

Good for chase. I will miss seeing him on Saturdays
August 8th, 2019 at 11:22 PM ^
You just have to wait till sundays now.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:10 PM ^
That was elite bend around the corner, he was skimming the turf there. Chase seems to have slimmed down a bit and picked up a little quickness.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:20 PM ^
The local Pats reporters have mentioned that Chase has been playing some OLB and rushing from a 2-point stance, doing some coverage in the flats, etc. I wonder if he's slimmed down a bit because of that? Makes his low pad level on that sack even more impressive.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
NE runs a 3-4 so he's an OLB but on the line as a defacto DE minus the hand in the dirt.
August 8th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
Hand in the rubber

It's the TB12 diet.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:18 PM ^
Another half sack?
August 8th, 2019 at 10:18 PM ^
Ha! Winovich didn't give the Lolcats QB time to set up.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:21 PM ^
Good news(?)-- Chase's Michigan tradition of getting held and not drawing the call appears to be continuing.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
Yes! Just saw it! Awesome!
August 8th, 2019 at 10:34 PM ^
Someone please explain the Bing Crosby reference by the announcer.
August 9th, 2019 at 12:07 AM ^
He said, "he beat Crosby," the Lions tackle.
And then he sang Zip-A-Dee-Doo Dah, which accounts for the Bing Crosby reference.
August 9th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
Bing Crosby was an early investor in Ampex developing the Tape Recorder in the late 1940s....and we all know that Chase Winovich Flies off the Tape!
There is the reference.

PFF had him rated as a 1st Round pick, and higher than Rashan Gary.
It's really great to see him having fun at football in another season!
August 8th, 2019 at 10:50 PM ^
I would have expected to see him earlier than the third quarter in this game.
I was at the game, and the depth chart thingies they handed out to us had him listed as fourth-string. I was surprised by that, but who knows what it means at this point in the season. I think (and hope) he will move up.
August 9th, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
There was FREEP article that mentioned him as a contributor on special teams and on defense, so I think they're bringing him along slowly. He'll probably play more as he handles the speed of the game and the playbook.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
Funny how good organizations draft good players in the 3rd round.
August 9th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
If that's a dig against the Lions, boo on you. That analogy is applicable to all rounds when you talk about the Lions.
August 8th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
I will keep my eye out for it, you want to pick the title?
August 8th, 2019 at 11:14 PM ^
Bet Matt Stafford can't wait to get out behind that line. I know not all 7(!) sacks were against the first team OL but NE had 3 in the first quarter. Gonna be another long season.
August 8th, 2019 at 11:30 PM ^
Sounds more like it's gonna be a short season for Stafford, amirite?
August 8th, 2019 at 11:23 PM ^
Seriously
Didn't watch the game but just now looked at the box score.
The Lions gave up 9 sacks in just 17 passing attempts.
How is that possible?
Well, it's the Lions, and by your count, they attempted to pass more than 9 times.
August 9th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
I think that means they dropped back to pass 26 times, but were only able to attempt the pass 17 times. So instead of being sacked 50% of the time, it's "only" 33%.
Also, queue up any game against Minnesota or Chicago in the past 10 years, and you'll see Stafford look like a shell of a shell of the QB he already is.
That was a great looking run around the corner! But then, hard to tell how great, because the RT looked like a big, plodding, slow, clumsy oaf. Why am I not surprised by that considering the Leo's...
Warms my heart...hoping he has a long NFL career!
It would be cool if Brady sticks around a few more years and Chase gets himself a couple of rings right off the bat.

Fantasy football note to self:
Start anyone who is playing the Lions that week.
August 9th, 2019 at 10:54 AM ^
He's going to have an AMAIZING career!
