I will add that I don't think these players need to have permanent felony records from their assaults; for as bad as they were that day nobody was permanently injured and the players who were still have civil options for compensation.  I hope they get the opportunity to plead down to a misdemeanor, do some significant community service and pay appropriate fines, and learn a life-long lesson that you can't get away with something just because your asshole coaches tell you it's cool.

Seems logical base on the videos in public view so far.

Now both programs can move forward knowing 1) this type of behavior has serious repercussions and 2) the rivalry hatred (especially by Spartans) needs to take ln down a few notches. Play hard and talk some trash, but shake hands and show civility once the whistle blows.

Probably not the core of RCMB and the AD/Staff. but I don’t think/hear/see most of the MSU fans are supportive of this asinine behavior. This rabid hatred seems like a small faction in the football program who push for anti-UM as their sole ID. Dantonio definitely fostered and thrived on the hate - it was a masterful move by a narcissist to pull the fans into his corner no matter what happened.

At the end of the day, a few criminal records won’t change the minds of the rabid folks whose hatred isn’t logical. But the rational fans will understand the situation. Can the rational folks carry the day in EL? If not, what else can change the situation?

MSU isn't the first team to have thugs on its roster, but it's certainly the worst and most stupid team to have them, and there's very little institutional control over their band of idiots.

In truth, there never has been much control over the MSU team, going back a very long way. I will never forget the blatant fouls MSU committed in the past, including the helmet twist on Denard.

Of course, there will be requests for change of venue and other procedural maneuverings. But these things will not avail them.

The Big Ten will do nothing, leaving everything up to the court system. However, MSU belongs in the Big Ten less than Rutgers, and that's saying quite a lot, but nothing will happen to their membership in the Big Ten. That's about money, not thuggery.

These guys (The MSU 8, now 7) have already shot their MSU careers and will likely end up like Winston at a small school (Northwood), trying to get a look someday from the pros.

I fully expect, if they have reasonable attorneys, for them to plead guilty to some degree and be sentenced under Mi's Holmes Act, which allows them to expunge their record after so many years if they exhibit good behavior.

They have already cost their team a bowl bid - Xavier Henderson, MSU safety while not mentioning WHY MSU was starting inexperienced DEs, did point out that the running IU QB took advantage of the inexperience running the option. Windmon probably dominates a weak IU running attack and Sparty wins, even with bad kicking game.

I'm taking a cue from JH on the "no need for hate" (which he mentioned for the Ohio game) and hope these guys get some punishment (community service and probation) but a 2nd chance somewhere else. The helmet swinging guy may be on the line for more, but even he can take advantage of the Holmes Act.

What I don't expect to change - unless Haller and Tucker publicly make it a priority and reinforce it with discipline - is the hate Michigan at all costs, including purposely trying to injury players through cheap shots. The fan base, after hateful Dicktonio went 7-1 vs. UM from 2008 to 2015, sold their soul to this fanatical hatred. Problem for Mel and Al is that the fanbase will turn on them if they try a kinder and gentler approach and get back to win 1 of 3 games like happened until Perles, Saban, and Bobby (MSU went 7-11 vs. UM from 1984 to 2001). They've always resented us, but beating us 7 of 8 and beating us physically turned them into a monster. And there's no putting them back into the cages.

I use to always think fans are fans. Every fanbase at the end of the day is the same. But man reading the Sparties comments the last few weeks make me realize they are one of most pathetic fanbases in the country. The insecurities and jealousy is real. Scariest part is Izzo and Dantonio think exactly like their fans. Whiney and jealous.

I don’t think putting anyone in jail will solve anything given their age and the emotional circumstances, I think community service or something is fine, at most probation for Crump.  But charges should be inevitable when you jump someone on video, in Crump’s case with a weapon, and I’m glad they were filed.

Somehow I came across Justin Spiro's Twitter account...wow, talk about an insecure child. MSU has the most toxic fanbase on the planet.

They say we hired the DA before the game to investigate the post-game altercation.  So that the county of Washtenaw, could assist in paying part of Tuck's contract buyout.  #facts

There was a documentary (I think) about an elite soldier who killed a guy defending his pregnant wife outside a bar against 3-4 other guys. Judge threw the book at him, seeing as how he was held to a higher standard and his fists were deadly weapons. I think that applies here; these guys are elite athletes.

We later learn he ended up stopping a bunch of terrorists who hijacked a plane when he was on his way out of the joint, even though he had the opportunity to do nothing, and on his daughter's birthday, no less. These guys, I pray, get the same shot at redemption.
