Can you make the case for a win Saturday being the "most impressive road win of the Harbaugh era"?
It just so turns out that the next opponent comes with a set of challenges all its own. A game that could sneakily make the case for most impressive road win of the Harbaugh era, were it to come to fruition.
Can you make that case? I have, in order, 2018 Northwestern (by a mile), 2015 PSU and 2016 MSU.
It would be #4 by my count, so I have a hard time making the case. Maybe I'm missing something.

We are still playing Indiana right? Did University of Florida just take their place? Am I missing something?
Beating Indiana on the road is never a big deal, unless it is with a bouncy ball and a hoop.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
the hoops thing is hardly a big deal the way their program is trending now days
November 19th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
If we win, by any margin, will people say "WOW Michigan, we're impressed!"
Probably not. It's Indiana.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
Agree the game was good, but MSU was 3-9 in 2016. Tough to make an argument that that is an impressive road win. Although the Peppers two point return is one of my favorite plays to watch over and over.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
Argh, I meant 2018. Let me go edit the OP...oh wait.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:33 AM ^
Lol. Indeed, 2018 was impressive. Good ole 94.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
This is one of my all-time favorite Michigan football pictures, from that return.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:49 AM ^
I remember Digornio clenching his ass and calling a timeout the first time Peppers went out with the offense.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:19 AM ^
Just because....
November 19th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
2016 Ohio State IMO
November 19th, 2019 at 9:35 AM ^
If I live to be 100 I will never let go of my anger from this game.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:44 AM ^
Same. Never in my life have I thought the refs unequivocally took the win away from us, aside from that game. Michigan wins easily with fair officiating in that one.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:02 AM ^
Yup!
7 penalties for 59 yards for UM to 1 penalty for 1 yard against OSU in regulation, then the missed DPI on 3rd down in OT.
But this is what happens when Tim Drevno is running more of the offense than Jedd Fisch and you put the game in the hands of idiots in striped shirts.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:11 AM ^
Our offense died in the 4th quarter. Exhausted our playbook. After everything else that went wrong, we were a couple first downs from closing it.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
The spot gets a lot of attention (rightfully so) but one of the worst officiating that cost us the game was the absolutely god awful PI they called on Hill on 3rd down late in the 4th quarter.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
That was the moment my heart officially sunk in my chest. When that phantom PI was called, I knew we were toast.
I probably should have come to that realization earlier when Harbaugh was flagged for yelling at the refs and Meyer was NOT flagged for yelling at the refs.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:26 AM ^
Wasn't Harbaugh penalized for throwing stuff onto the field?
November 19th, 2019 at 11:31 AM ^
Herbstreit was a shrill little fucker when that happened: "AND HE THROWS HIS PLAYSHEETS ON THE FIELD!!!!" But I've watched that tantrum 1,000 times and the playsheets went straight up in the air. Not into the playing field. But, whatever.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
I mean, there was an official caressing an OSU players ass on the field for fuck's sake. How the fuck does that guy still have a job?
November 19th, 2019 at 5:06 PM ^
Post of the day. Made me lmfao. I don’t do the point thing usually but you got one from me.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:59 AM ^
I think they win handily with fair officiating in the Penn State game this year, but it's a harder case to make if only because the worst calls were early, not late.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
And somehow Dan Capron is still employed.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:41 AM ^
Ugh!!!!!
November 19th, 2019 at 9:45 AM ^
i hate you seth
November 19th, 2019 at 10:17 AM ^
I was watching that game at my in-laws house - who are not from the states, and don't fully 'get' college football - and I'm pretty sure my response to that game had a not so positive impact on their perception of me...
but whatever, fuck Delaney
November 19th, 2019 at 10:27 AM ^
Hear, hear!!!
November 19th, 2019 at 11:27 AM ^
It was a block
November 19th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
#24 MSU last year is for now.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:45 AM ^
Have to agree here. That State team had momentum, the home crowd, and the weather machine. The team also had to deal with a lengthily weather delay on the road. It may have not been a legitimate ranking for Michigan State but it was certainly a difficult game to win.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:33 AM ^
I just want to win the game, I don’t really care if it is the most impressive win ever.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
I think MSU last year has to be the biggest thus far. Against a ranked rival
November 19th, 2019 at 9:36 AM ^
It’s Indiana...they always give us fits but when did we lose to them last?
November 19th, 2019 at 9:43 AM ^
1987. And it took a record number of interceptions by Indiana to do it so unless we stick Demetrius Brown back in the game at QB I think we'll be ok.
Hell I wasnt even MgrowMiddleage back then. Was still in my freaking 20's.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:47 AM ^
On a happier note that season, Indiana went in to Columbus and kicked OSU's ass....
November 19th, 2019 at 11:04 AM ^
1987 is the only time in history that Indiana has beat OSU and Michigan in the same season. If they would have beat MSU, they would have won the conference and gone to the Rose Bowl, which would have been only their second Rose Bowl in program history.
November 19th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
Still in my freaking 20’s too! Brown did get a Rose Bowl Win down the road....
November 19th, 2019 at 9:43 AM ^
1987
14-10 loss thanks to IU blocking a punt and recovering it in the end zone for the TD in a rainstorm.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:43 AM ^
78-0 vs Rutger.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:03 AM ^
Whenever you destroy a rival like that it means more.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:44 AM ^
Listen folks, Indiana looks improved this year. And they always cause us problems. But the "best road win of Harbaugh's career?" Indiana has beaten exactly nobody. They lost to OSU by 31 and MSU by 9. Their best "win" is a loss on the road to PSU by 7. Their best actual win is a 7-point win over Nebraska on the road. Nebraska is 4-6. Let's not lose perspective here. I expect a closer game than I'd like, but if this is a win, it's just "OK"; if it's a loss, the knives will be out for Harbaugh.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
Just think about the last two Indiana games in Bloomington though. Both were 60 minute heart attacks, and this is probably a better Indiana team that either of those, and it is sandwiched in between MSU and OSU.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:51 AM ^
Last two went longer than 60 minutes.
The one before that was 60 minutes...and also heart-attack inducing. But that was ages ago.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:52 AM ^
Yeah, I am fully expecting it to be a close game, and like I said, closer than I'd like. I just think calling it a "big road win" misses the mark.
November 19th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
Will these knives consist of IU's "fists and blades?"
http://archive.inside.indiana.edu/features/videos/2013-10-31-iniub-fists-and-blades.shtml
This is a real thing.
November 19th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
Not that it matters, but OSU beat them by 41. It was 51-10.
November 19th, 2019 at 9:50 AM ^
It only counts as a big game if we lose
November 19th, 2019 at 9:50 AM ^
I hope not
November 19th, 2019 at 9:52 AM ^
From a betting perspective, 2015 Penn St we were only 3.5 pt favorites. That’s the lowest spread we have won with on the road. The next closest is actually Indiana in 2017 (-7). The line is 8.5 right now for Saturday.
But I think MSU last year was a bigger win than any win against Indiana.
