Good luck Bryce, and see you in the portal.

Can't argue with that. If he wanted to get away from home, no better spot than LSU, with two recent Heisman QBs.
I wish him well and hope we meet him in the playoffs next year, preferably at the Big House.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:22 PM ^
I wouldn’t mind the 1st Round bye
January 6th, 2024 at 6:23 PM ^
Thank you, next…
January 6th, 2024 at 6:23 PM ^
I officially shrug my shoulders
January 6th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
The only thing I don’t like about this is not getting top talent from our own state.
January 6th, 2024 at 6:27 PM ^
Got bigger things to care about! Let's win a Natty!
January 6th, 2024 at 6:52 PM ^
Agreed. Rather have a real natty then a recruiting natty.
January 6th, 2024 at 8:16 PM ^
Please say natty more. It's not annoying enough to only use once per post

Presently live in the Fort Myers area and have seen Carter Smith play. Very athletic -- similar to JJ. I would assume the only thing you can knock the kid for is he likely isn't quite as polished as JJ at the same age because he spent his summers playing baseball and not in 7-on-7 competitions and football camps. With his commitment, it will be interesting to see if he shifts focus next summer to more football related activities. Also, I know several people who know him and his family and they say he is a great kid and great leader.
I have also spent a bit of time on the bayou. I'll just say there is a reason Louisiana is one of the few states in the south where more people are moving out than moving in. Baton Rouge is a bit isolated from the crud around it because it is a college town. We will see how happy he and his family are there. I know I'm not a fan, but different strokes....
Is it Monday yet? See y'all in Houston!
January 6th, 2024 at 6:32 PM ^
Well, he might win the Heisman and he will likely earn millions. The tradeoff is shitty education, minimal leadership development, marginal coaching and a 3rd place finish in the SEC.
Albeit, 100% his choice.
January 6th, 2024 at 6:48 PM ^
You forgot the worst part of the deal. He has to play for Brian Kelly.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:43 PM ^
If the NFL offers Kelly he will be gone so quick even this offseason especially if the Pats do it since he is from there
January 6th, 2024 at 9:20 PM ^
Penix should've won that Heisman.
January 6th, 2024 at 6:38 PM ^
Congrats Bryce. Your future looks a lot like I imagine hell to look like:

January 6th, 2024 at 6:44 PM ^
As Bugs Bunny would say: "What a maroon."
January 6th, 2024 at 6:42 PM ^
Na, I don't wish him any luck. I hope he stays healthy. Besides that, I want LSU to lose every game
January 6th, 2024 at 6:42 PM ^
Whatever. We've missed out on plenty and we're having the best run of Michigan football since WW2.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:11 PM ^
Wo is us!!!
January 6th, 2024 at 6:50 PM ^
JFC, half the time we say the state if Michigan doesn't produce 5 star talent, but in a short span we had CJ Carr, Dante Moore, and now Bryce Underwood and we wiff on all 3. FUCK!!!
January 6th, 2024 at 7:05 PM ^
$$$. And that’s Michigan’s fault.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:53 PM ^
One looked bad and we'll see on the others. The stats showing that 5 star QBs are as unpredictable as QBs in the NFL draft. Doesn't mean you don't want them, but there are rarely sure things
January 6th, 2024 at 8:36 PM ^
There are rarely sure things for sure with 5* QBs but based on their tape, Underwood is in another class above Carr and Moore
January 6th, 2024 at 6:56 PM ^
What a SURPRISE
January 6th, 2024 at 6:59 PM ^
I'm not upset, just disappointed
January 6th, 2024 at 7:02 PM ^
We are plying for the national championship on Monday yet all these recruits pick bama…Georgia…Ohio st….LSU. I get the sentiment of trust the process but it really is baffling we can’t get one of these highly thought of 5 stars to commit last one was Will Johnson 2+ years ago. Winning solves recruiting now the excuse is NIL. Took 7 years to get a contender together and I’m not looking to fall back into how things were 4-5 seasons ago. There’s zero hype in any of our recruiting or transfer situations. End of rant. Go blue beat UW.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:06 PM ^
"See you in the portal" when you commit to Texas, Alabama, Oregon, Miami, OSU, A&M or any other pay to play school while Davis will be leading Michigan to a playoff spot, and Smith chopping at the bits as a backup to do the same.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:09 PM ^
Mich portal in 2027!!!!
January 6th, 2024 at 7:18 PM ^
Like Dante Moore?
January 6th, 2024 at 7:11 PM ^
Hey at least we have the basketball program to show us what being cheap with NIL will get you.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:38 PM ^
This football team is EXTREMELY well coached, so you can put that analogy where the sun don't shine!
January 6th, 2024 at 7:12 PM ^
Wishing him well.
I just took a look and it appears the demand for Lamborghinis in SEC country continues to rise.
Culture gets my vote over cars.. seven days a week.
Go Blue!
January 6th, 2024 at 7:14 PM ^
Osu took McCord over JJ. Nuff said.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:18 PM ^
Look forward to beating him in the playoffs.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:40 PM ^
The highest seed lsu will ever earn in his 3 years is #10, so it's unlikely...
January 6th, 2024 at 7:24 PM ^
Honestly I don’t know why anyone would want to play for Brian Kelly.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:47 PM ^
$$ & the Heisman Trophy. Those may be his priorities.
We're the absolute worst judges of what a young person should want - We're on p.3 of comments about where a HS player committed to play. Eleven months before he can even sign.
We're not the most impartial jurists...
January 7th, 2024 at 6:37 AM ^

Heisman Trophy and crazy stats
Top 10 NFL pick
Throwing to multiple 1st round NFL receivers
January 6th, 2024 at 7:32 PM ^
I worked for a long time for the formerly-named East Detroit Public Schools and as a youngster my grandparents moved from the Eastside of Detroit just north of 8 mile in Eastpointe and I spent much time there. It’s a very down-trodden community these days and this young man just made millions of dollars as a junior in High School growing up there. Of course being groomed as a QB since age 7 and going to Belleville has helped.
Doubt we see him in the portal. He’s as can’t miss of a QB prospect since Trevor Lawrence.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:32 PM ^
Underwood is a great prospect, but please tell us how many "can't miss QB" prospects in the past decade actually have panned out as quickly as Lawrence did, let alone at all? Besides, Lawrence went to what was then a current CFP level-program with a great defense, great coaching, and playing in a league which practically guaranteed a slot in the playoffs.
Underwood has currently decided to join an under-achieving program with an under-achieving HC. Time will tell, but calling him can't miss is over the top.
January 6th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
As I said in the other Underwood thread-Remember when we used to think that we’d recruit better if we won more…
January 6th, 2024 at 8:01 PM ^
I get the money.
I get wanting to play for a pass-first team.
But Brian Kelly? Who would want to play for him? There are many better options he could have chosen. I don't get it.
January 6th, 2024 at 8:20 PM ^
We got the player out of Belleville we need more . Beasley is an a baller ! He could be our next stud linebacker turning heads
January 6th, 2024 at 9:18 PM ^
This is not an accurate take, but Im happy you're happy.
January 6th, 2024 at 8:41 PM ^
I saw someone today say LSU is the Penn St. of the SEC and I will never look at LSU the same.
January 6th, 2024 at 8:49 PM ^
LSU won a national title a few years ago. They're way better than Penn State. Penn State is more like a Ole Miss or something or a Tennessee.
January 6th, 2024 at 9:35 PM ^
They aren't much better than PSU this year. And a title from our pre NIL and pre transfer-o-rama CFB from back in 2019 might as well be from the dark ages.
January 6th, 2024 at 10:24 PM ^
Eh lsu will always be able to string together a natty in any given decade because of the talent hotbed they’re in. Not going to happen with purple face sound tho, he’s awful
January 6th, 2024 at 8:47 PM ^
No luck wished, good or bad
January 6th, 2024 at 8:57 PM ^
Maybe 5 star QB's in Michigan aren't the best option and Michigan isn't sold on Carr, Moore, or even Underwood. Remember Shane Morris? Bust!!! He was the last 5 star must have Michigan QB.
