There is a 0% chance that Day gives up playcalling next year.  The entire discussion about those comments have been incredibly overblown.  If Day was handing over playcalling, they would have hired an outside OC.  This move is about retaining Hartlime and using him to recruit other positions, not about a new playcaller

Hartline was an excellent receivers coach, but so was Josh Gattis. With all the talent OSU has I'm sure the offense will be good, but I think it's 50/50 at best that he's a better play caller than Day.

Good move for them. He has been a monster recruiting and developing WRs. This probably helps with retention. I have a feeling he will do well in this role. Along side a new play caller is OSU will be breaking in a new QB this season. I think their offense takes a step back.

Hartline killed it in recruiting receivers. 2019 they got 3 of the top 5 receives.  He also develops  them (not so much in blocking). Look at Olave and Wilson this year.

He also interviewed also interviewed for the head job at Cincinnati. So I don't think it's more than 2 years and he's on the carousel.

I wonder how much of OSU’s record of success with WRs actually has to do with development. If you’re bringing in ultra talented recruits every year, I’m sure it’s a lot easier to look like you’re doing a great job of coaching. The OC spot is a bit different. Although overall talent no doubt still has a lot to do with being successful, there are other aspects of the coordinator the job which talent alone won’t cover. We’ll see.

I am certain Hartline is an outstanding developer of WR.  There are too many The WR who go on to 1st round status and success in the NFL for it to be a coincidence.

And no disagreement that starting with great recruits helps, but for comparison in the last few years Michigan did little with DPJ, Collins, Henning, Cornelius Johnson who were each The caliber recruits.

“For 365 days, we’ve heard them talk. For 365 days, I had to watch them attack our head coach, attack our quarterback and attack Buckeye Nation," Hartline said. "... What we did in the dark will someday come to light. Today is that light.”

This was before Michigan crushed them in November 😁

You are correct.  It is a false equivalency.  But I wasn't making an equivalency, because the political riots, looting, death and destruction that happen in 2020 far exceeds Jan 6th.

January 6th is not to be taken lightly.  All who are committed crimes are to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Yes, a bunch of murderous rednecks trying to overthrow the results of a legitimate election, kidnap lawmakers and execute the vice president, based on a big lie, really is worse than a bunch of poor people protesting an established pattern of murderous and racist police brutality. You're a fucking idiot.

Jan 6 deaths: 1

2020 riot deaths: >30

I won’t even go into the $$ number of destruction that the 2020 riots did to businesses. I’ll reiterate, any Jan 6th people who were doing anything illegal should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  It delayed a democratic process by a handful of hours that eventually got to the final and correct result by the election process.

Lmfao there is no statistical evidence of what you just listed. FBI crime statistics show blacks are 18x more likely to kill a cop than vice versa. Unarmed whites are also statistically more likely to be killed by cops as well. Holy shit sometimes mgoblog is reddit tier clown shit.

You're the actual fucking idiot.

Someone needs to read more MLK.

The riot is the language of the unheard. Period. How many innocent people did cops shoot and expect to get away with it? Are you just ignoring the dozens of people that police murdered and the continued violations of civil rights of thousands of people to make a false equivalency?

Rioting against the rampant police corruption and violence that's plagued this country since its inception is not the same as, or even comparable to a group of Russian assets cosplaying as American politicians trying to lead a revolt with their illiterate, violent, racist followers against a democratically elected goverment.

Most conservatives have no problem overthrowing democratically elected governments in other countries (Mexico, Samoa, the Phillipines, Nicaragua twice, Guatemala twice, Cuba twice, Haiti three times, the Dominican Republic twice, Costa Rica, Albania, Syria twice, Indonesia twice, Vietnam, Congo, Laos, Brazil, Iraq three times, Cambodia, Chile, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Angola, East Timor, Argentina, Afghanistan, Zaire, Yugoslavia, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Libya, and Syria), so I think you're just angry that it didn't work and the Orange KGB asset isn't still in power.

Be a real patriot. Stop watching Fox News.

Also, technically, two people died on 1/6. Brian Sicklick, the DC police officer that was beaten to death by the terrorists (some of which were wearing Blue Lives Matter gear, lol), and that idiot terrorist girl that deserved it.

I read a lot of MLK and I don’t think I’ve ever watched Fox News. I also have never watched MSNBC. I did watch CNN for a bit about 10 years ago, but gave it up 7 years ago.

I believe MLK is one of best leaders our nation has seen. He’s certainly not perfect, but his overall message was righteous IMO.

I’m married to a Hispanic immigrant, and have sponsored several people to get green cards. My wife’s aunt is in the US under asylum.  She’ll tell you that Jan 6th was “meh” compared to shite they’ll been through.

I’ll guess that you and I probably mostly align on things, but I have a nuanced opinion on this topic that differs from you.

Agreed on all cable news, actually.

I never understood why people choose to consume media that's essentially just doing PR for the corporations that own them. MSNBC isn't going to do any investigative journalism into Comcast or anything that could go against their interests, likewise with CNN and AT&T and Fox and the rest of the Murdoch propaganda empire. I won't even get started on infowars and how anyone could possibly be stupid enough to take Alex Jones at his word...

Bringing up the riots looked like a bit of a deflection of the severity of 1/6. I'll go on record as saying that I generally have no problem with most riots -except Canadian ones, they'll riot about a hockey game but not police murdering innocent people.

In his "The Other America" speech, given April 4, 1967, he opens with an observation that's still relevant.

"There are literally two Americas. One America is beautiful for situation. And, in a sense, this America is overflowing with the milk of prosperity and the honey of opportunity. This America is the habitat of millions of people who have food and material necessities for their bodies; and culture and education for their minds; and freedom and human dignity for their spirits. In this America, millions of people experience every day the opportunity of having life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in all of their dimensions. And in this America millions of young people grow up in the sunlight of opportunity.

But tragically and unfortunately, there is another America. This other America has a daily ugliness about it that constantly transforms the ebulliency of hope into the fatigue of despair. In this America millions of work-starved men walk the streets daily in search for jobs that do not exist. In this America millions of people find themselves living in rat-infested, vermin-filled slums. In this America people are poor by the millions. They find themselves perishing on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity."

The full quote really sums it up.

"Let me say as I've always said, and I will always continue to say, that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating. ... But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation's summers of riots are caused by our nation's winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again."

https://www.crmvet.org/docs/otheram.htm <- Link to his full "The Other America" speech, all of which still holds true to this day.

Riots, therefore, will be a part of American society until there's actually liberty and justice for all. The causes of the riots must be condemned as vigorously as the riots themselves for things to change.
