Knight was a great coach, and, until about 1981, when he won his second championship, he was at least a decent guy with some moral compass. Then, he got so full of himself, he just about ruined everything he had done.

Men like coach Knight made this country great. So he was an asshole prone to violent outbursts on occasion? That's probably what made him so good at his job.
Today he would just be pumped full of psych meds and ordered to take anger management classes until his spirit was broken.

The weird thing about these Knight rants is there's almost always someone in the IU press corps laughing at them, even though in a lot of them he seems dead serious (possibly not this time, though).
