Better athletic year 2016-17: U-M or Wiscy?
These appear to be the best of the Big Ten this year, so I thought I'd ask you guys now that it's officially over for us who was better. Sports that qualify are football, men's basketball, hockey (they don't have a baseball program so I felt that was unfair). To compare:
Football - Wisconsin finished 11-3, finished Big Ten runner up, won Cotton Bowl. Michigan finished 10-3, finished 3rd in East Division (FU Ohio refs), lost Orange Bowl. However head-to-head goes to Michigan 1-0
Men's Basketball - Wisconsin was 27-10 finished runner up in BOTH regular season and postseason of the Big Ten. Michigan finished 26-12, 5th in the regular season but 1st in Big Ten tournament and won head-to-head series 2-1. Both ended their seasons in the Sweet Sixteen
Hockey - Let's just concede this one to them (although they weren't able to make the tourney either)
Gun to my head (or baseball bat lol) I'd say it's Wisconsin by just a hair, but that's remarkable change to two years that we gave the Big Cheese of major sports in this conference a run for their money
Michigan.
Because we're Michigan and at no point would I want to be Wisconsin.
It's not logical, but since when is sports fandom logical?
I'm a Michigan homer, but objectively from what you've posted up there I'd say Wisconsin.
Pretty close to a draw. Maybe a very slight edge to Wisky.
Wisconsin won the Cotton Bowl, but it was not like WMU was some elite opponent. WMU's best win was against 7-6 Northwestern in which they needed a miracle fumble. Their second best win was against 52nd ranked Toledo per Sagarin.

PS: Wisconsin might make it this year....
They weren't a degree ahead in Washington DC.
ever in the Appleton area, I can recommend some terrific bars to get you drunk for $10 or less. WIsconsin is a very underrated state that I talk shit about all the time, but its honestly a great time.
The Home Burger Bar. Its a good one, a buddy of mine from the area loves D2s, but thats mostly a testament to cheap alcohol, and unwillingness to cut you off, so I dont recommend it if you're over the age of, say, 27?
I wonder if they were the second best team the year they lost the championship game 63-0 to osu. If wisconsin played in the east they would be irrelevant.
Um, we went 3-1 against them in the two major sports. (Hockey is not a major sport).
Michigan wins that matchup, but how did you get to us two anyways?
This is Michigan and Wisconsin - hockey is absolutely a major sport in these cases.
Disagree about the bowl. Playing WMU was a nightmare (insomuch as being winless and non exciting) matchup. They didn't get any acclaim for winning, but it would've been a disaster with a loss (would've been even worse for us, as a school from the same state).
I'd much rather have played Florida State, even though we lost. It was a premier game.
I'd say the basketball comparison is a push.
Personally, I would have rather lost to Wisconsin in the regular season if it meant we were in the big ten championship game. Even if it were a rematch with Wisconsin. I want to start playing for championships.
