Best time to buy tickets

Submitted by michfan84 on
I'm planning on taking my dad to the game on Friday. I was wondering what everyone thought about the best time and way of purchasing tickets. Currently, tickets start at around $100 on StubHub for upper level. I know we have some very devout fanbases in our pod, so I didn't know if I should purchase now or wait closer to game time, or even from a scalper. Any advice would be appreciated!

more than we paid fo 2nd round  in dallas few years ago.

my guess- prices will not increase- may come down.

kentucky is close so will be a lot of fans that can easily travel.

advice: if you have to travel-buy now- ticket is only one part of game expense.

if local- wait- you might get a deal - more so if willing to sit upstairs

I'm not sure that ticket prices will come down.  With UK and UofL playing in Indy, these will be tough tickets to get.  I live in Louisville and am thinking of going on Friday and Sunday (assuming we win), but everyone in my office is scrambling for tickets.  I've may have a UK supporter with connections that can get tickets for me, otherwise I am at the mercy of StubHub.  GO BLUE!!1

With Kentucky and Louisville at the same venue, there is little chance you'll find value at the arena.  Buy your tickets now.  Nobody comes close to traveling like UK hoops fans and Louisville, though a distant second, is the next closest thing.

Other thoughts- considering scalping your tickets to the Louisville game after our game if you don't want to stay for the 2-15 matchup. Would be a way to help recoup some money on the back end.

And I can't make up my mind either. 100 just seems a bit high, plus I feel like (as pointed out above) having UL and Kentucky is just going to drive that price up. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Don't forget about the Stubhub extortion, er, I mean fee.  I got my ticket for the BTT final and was shocked to see they added nearly $40 to it.  And then you had to go a half mile from the Verizon Center to pick it up.

I'm sure they charged the seller a big fee too.  The total fees were probably more than the total ticket price.

Nice scam they've got going.

It looks like the buyer fees used to be 15%, and the seller fees were 10%. So StubHub is getting almost the same spread with just buyer fees now; I'm guessing they're still charging seller fees, too, of course. StubHub used to be more user-friendly; you could easily sort tickets with the fee amount included. Now they push the "best value" option, which has a lot of flaws, such as closer doesn't always mean better. I'm stupid, but I'd still rather figure out my own value. Too many clicks to undo the defaults when you just want to get the basic information.
