My son finished last…

My son finished last semester in Ross with online classes & exams.  The classes & work were no joke!  He worked harder over a month than I did during any semester of college. Although removing the social aspect of college is a shame, it allows for more focus on academics.

This Burns11 tool and other like him/her are making this site unbearable.  I don't understand how some people can be so entertained by being obnoxious and how otherwise rational people will waste time arguing with someone like him/her.  I'll check back some time in the future, hopefully the site will be cleaned up, because I enjoy getting information and commentary about Michigan sports.

Chadds Ford?

Chadds Ford?

Anyone that disagrees should…

Anyone that disagrees should indicate what coach we would be willing and able to get as a replace for Harbaugh.  I can't think of a better coach that I would also trust not to embarrass the university.

Congratulations!!!  My…

Congratulations!!!  My girlfriend had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and has been cancer free for 33 years and counting.  I mention this because you and your wife should know that some people do beat cancer and I wish your wife the same fortune.

You should have scheduled…

You should have scheduled during Masters weekend or the NCAA tournament so that you could sit on your ass and watch your favorite sporting event guilt free.

I used to strictly brew all…

I used to strictly brew all grain, but with the IPAs and Pale Ales the volume of grain tends to be crowded in the brew pot, therefore I have switched to partial for a lot of my brewing.  I started brewing around 1989 or 1990 and therefore can't remember how many batches I've brewed.  I will tell you that the best thing I did was switch from bottling to kegging a few years ago.  Had I made that change earlier I would have brewed more often because the only things I don't like about brewing is cleaning the equipment and bottling.

My set up starts with a Blichmann 10 Gallon brew pot and I have a lot of accessories including a false bottom, a hop blocker, a therminator and chilling coils.

Thanks for post, both of my kegs are close to empty and I need to find time to brew.

You are correct that…

You are correct that companies get to deduct advertising expenses, however that does not mean that taxpayers are paying for the naming rights.  Regardless of the tax expense, the shareholders of the company are the ones that ultimately pay for the naming rights.  But whatever, I hate to let facts get in the way of you story.

I generally agree with your…

I generally agree with your comments related to the trade industries, but it does not makes sense for every person / family.  Not to sound elitist, but there is something to the thought of having a profession that ones spouse can be proud of in her circle.  Maybe she will be proud of him no matter what he does, but I've never met that woman (sorry OP, no offense to your sister).  Just think about the couple attending a holiday party with her doctor colleagues and he is just starting a career in one of the trades.  While I agree that he should be very proud of his hard work and efforts to bring home a pay check, but before he pursues this he needs to be sure that his wife will also be proud of his career.  If she finds that embarrassing, it can really harm the marriage.

It's tough to give advice to…

It's tough to give advice to someone I don't know.  With that being said, I would recommend that he get is degree since it is hard to be successful without one.  I see the comments about being a stay at home dad and I would think that would be very tough on the ego, especially with a spouse that is a doctor.  Ultimately, he needs to figure out what he wants to do for a career.  Sales?  Accounting? Law? Once he knows what he wants to do, his academic path will become clear.  Also, he is setting a great example for his children by making a decision and pursuing it.  It's not as easy to do when  you're a "non-traditional" student.  Good luck to him.

Why would you not expect…

Why would you not expect Harbaugh to hire Mike Hart?

Louisville is not getting…

Louisville is not getting killed either.  They just hired a great coach and have a great recruiting class coming in next year.  They'll be back very soon.

I follow Michigan hockey…

I follow Michigan hockey fairly closely, but I don't get to watch every game like I do with football.  I also watch more basketball, but I am a much bigger fan of the hockey team. As student at Michigan in the late 80s, I worked at Yost and attended every home game.  Great memories!  Go Blue!!

Dantoni has had a lot of…

Dantoni has had a lot of success, therefore MSU will not fire him unless they are forced to as a result of off the field issues. Thus far MSU has been willing to live with any off the field issues and will probably continue to do so.  I really find it amazing that people are suggesting that he will be fired now.

Great idea!  Now name one…

Great idea!  Now name one coach that we could get that would be anywhere near the caliber of a coach that JH is.  Anyone that thinks we can get a better coach is living in a fantasy land.

Very cool.  I lost my father…

Very cool.  I lost my father to Alzheimer's and it's a shitty disease.  I have fond memories tailgating with him and my brother while I was a student at Michigan.  I already have season tickets, but wanted to say good luck with the caring for your father.

YouTube TV is great.  I am…

YouTube TV is great.  I am not proficient with technology and figured I'd stick with Direct TV indefinitely, but I got sick of paying $150 / month for TV.  Now I only pay $40 and have every station I need including BIG 10 Network.  They also have a guide that is similar to what people of my age (50) are accustomed to seeing which is why I selected YouTube over Hulu & Roku.

Onliine gambling is already

Onliine gambling is already legal in some states.  Similar to what is likely to happen with sports wagering, online wagering is at the discretion of state laws.

I just dropped DirecTV and

I just dropped DirecTV and replaced it with Youtube TV.  I'm saving $110 / month and have it has BTN along with every other channel that I watch except the NHL Network.  I will say that I spent about 6 hours and 3 trips to Best Buy trying to get it working, but that's probably an indication of my age rather than the actual difficulty of the system.  Anyway, I highly recommend Youtube TV.

Ross?

My son was accepted into LS&A today, but we are still waiting to hear if he will be directly admitted to Ross.  Does anybody know when Ross gives notification?

My son also applied early

My son also applied early action and was told he would hear on Friday the 22nd.  This is consistent with my daughter's experience in that she was accepted on the last Friday that high school was open before the Christmas break.

Agreed, but who did he think

Agreed, but who did he think he would be blocking?

I'm not sure that ticket

I'm not sure that ticket prices will come down.  With UK and UofL playing in Indy, these will be tough tickets to get.  I live in Louisville and am thinking of going on Friday and Sunday (assuming we win), but everyone in my office is scrambling for tickets.  I've may have a UK supporter with connections that can get tickets for me, otherwise I am at the mercy of StubHub.  GO BLUE!!1

Sorry to hear about your

Sorry to hear about your loss.  Cancer sucks - my thoughts & prayers are with your family.

I just went throught this

I just went throught this process with my daughter last year - have fun!  Both of my kids have spent time at Northwestern for summer camps when they were younger and we usually stayed in Chicago when dropping them off or picking them up.  There are places closer to Evenston, but have fun in Chicago.

BTW - the mother was pushing for my daughter to consider ND, but my daughter and I agreed that she would visit only if she was accepted to ND and not Michigan.  She was accepted to Michigan and we didn't worry about that again.  Unfortunately, she pick UVA over Michigan.

All great schools - enjoy the process even if your daughter tells you that she is not making a decision based on football.

It's dropped for everything

It's dropped for everything but Michigan Football.   I don't think my interest in Michigan football could grow from what it was in my college days, but it certainly hasn't dropped.  Aside from that, I don't have the time or energy to invest in pro sports like I once did.

GO BLUE!!

That is an awesome video.  It

That is an awesome video.  It reminds me of walking through the bathrooms at halftime in the 90s when we were kicking NDs ass and the sound of "It's great ... to be ... a Michigan Wolverine" was echoing throughout restrooms.  The most enjoyable piss of my life!  Go Blue!!

Try Bluegrass Brewing Company

Try Bluegrass Brewing Company (BBC).  They brew their own beer which is decent.  If you go somewhere else and come across a West 6th Street IPA - drink it!

BTW, I have been reading this blog for more years than I care to admit, but decided to create an account to reply to your question since I have been living in Louisville for about 5 years now.  I've never been to 4th street live, therefore all I can tell you about it is that it's not for locals.  Also, if you have the ability to get to Shelbyville Rd in St. Matthews or Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands, you will find many great bars and restaurants.  Have fun.
