Best place to watch a game at Disney World

Hey Everyone, For some godforsaken reason my family thought it would be a great idea to do the holidays at DisneyWorld. After a miserable week for me and hopefully an incredible week for the kids I will get the pleasure of watching our team play for a shot at the national title before heading to the airport at 3:30am the following morning. This being the one reprieve that will be available I would love to enjoy it to the maximum while hopefully getting to interact with a few other Michigan or Georgia fans. With the ESPN Center shut down does anyone have any recommendations for a pace to watch while staying at one of the Disney resorts?

No snark, just help from this response...

Since you're at All-Star Movies, what I would recommend is trying to get a table at Big River Grille & Brewery at the Boardwalk. Their reservation system is on Open Table NOT the Disney App, so reservations don't go as quickly there. Decent beer, lots of TVs on and they'll almost certainly have the game on. Additionally, the Boardwalk area is walking distance (~10 min) to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios, so you can go to one of those parks earlier in the day, and then head over for the game, and if your wife and kids want to stay at a park instead, they can without much of a problem. After the game, catch an Uber from the Boardwalk hotel from desk to go back to your hotel.

Depending on resort, the lobby bars are usually filled with football fans from both teams this time of year. Coronado springs has a nice one along with shades of green.  Those are the only two I watched games at previously. I have watched in my room before as well. Good luck and enjoy the time. It will be as pleasurable as you make it.

I would say take 528 East to A1A, head South to Cocoa Beach, and make a left onto Minuteman Causeway, to end up at Coconut's. Depending on how you drive, it would take you about forty five minutes to get there.

I myself, will be further down the coast in Rockledge at Pineda Inn, watching the game on the Tiki Deck, with about eight other Michigan fans.

City Works in Disney Springs is the best bet since ESPN Club on Boardwalk is not open.  You won't get a NYE reservation now, but they have a long bar with many TV's that you may be able to sit at without a reservation.  If you are looking for room for the entire family you will probably find slim pickin's for NYE at this juncture.  I just watched the Big 10 Championship  game sitting at the bar at the Boathouse in Disney Springs--they have two huge screens on each side of the bar.  The tough part: its New Years Eve and everything will be jammed.

Years ago (early 2000s) I visiting Disney mid-season, and found the local U-M club's gathering spot.  As I recall they met at a nondescript bar in a shopping center, but it was a really fun and welcoming crowd.  My recollection is that someone's 12-13ish son had a trumpet and would walk up to the front of the room to play the Victors after every touchdown.  I'm sure the meeting spot and crowd have changed, but it would be worth inquiring about.

News Years Eve at Disney World is the best!  Great fireworks to go with lipsyncing dancers and young men and women in costumes.   Your kids are so lucky to have a dad like you.    I would DVR the game and download it on your phone and watch the game on the small screen on the plane home.  You fast forward through the time outs.  After all it is just a football game.

As someone who goes to WDW often, congratulations you have literally picked the worst most miserable week to go there!

That said, you're looking for solutions.

The ESPN club at the Boardwalk would be your best bet, if it is open. Otherwise I have heard good things about Cityworks grill and bar at Disney Springs.

Other good options are Rix Sports bar at Coronado Springs, Splitsville at Disney Springs, or like, buy a bunch of beer and watch it in your hotel room, or sometimes the poolside bars or lounges will have a TV. Bartenders are usually happy to put on a game if you ask.

I’ll be at Magic Kingdom on NYE. There’s a 0% chance I’ll be able to leave because the kids are going to want to stay for the New Years party.

I loaded the Dish Network app on my phone and bought the world’s largest battery pack.
