We were unbelievably spoiled by having the best pound-for-pound coach in the game. Beilein's combination of coaching and integrity were outmatched by none.
We should accept that he was a once in a lifetime hire - in finding Juwan's replacement. My worry is that our appetite for winning will overshadow the search for a high-integrity coach.
If Warde isn't on the phone with Beilein this morning to get his perspective and hire him as a consultant to aid in the search, it's a dereliction of duty, full stop.

I hear what you are saying, but here's my counter-argument. We've made the final fours in the 1960s and 1970s under Dave Strack and Johnny Orr without accusations of cheating. I don't know when Ed Martin became involved, but our '89 championship still stands. Yes, football will always be king in Ann Arbor, but historically I would argue that Michigan high school basketball is arguably stronger than Michigan high school football. My point is that an expectation that we will make the tournament more often than not, and every few years make some noise, isn't unrealistic.

Oh yeah, I don't disagree with you on that front. I believe we can build a high-quality program that may not necessarily reach the echelons of consistency Beilein brought.

Not that it matters, but Edey is allowed to do anything he wants with or without the ball. The guy was just running into people all night, I thought he should have had 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game. Once they get to the Tourney, they never win because the refs don't let all of that BS go.
