Baumgardner predicts OSU blowout

If there's any paint left on the walls inside Michigan's offensive line room, there shouldn't be. The Wolverines' front five has now watched two different starting quarterbacks leave games and head to the hospital. That's unacceptable. At some point, enough has to be enough. Say whatever you want about the quarterback situation in Ann Arbor, but until the offensive line can show an ability to keep a guy standing upright for more than two seconds at a time, nothing else will matter. It's gut check time for plenty of folks on this football team, but the offensive line comes first.
If Peters were healthy and his offensive line showed an ability to keep him clean, I'd give Michigan a chance. But neither appear to be true. The Wolverines will no doubt empty their tank Saturday. They'll give Ohio State everything they have. They may even scare the Buckeyes. But there's not enough proven evidence in 2017 that suggests it'll be enough.

Pick: Ohio State 31, Michigan 10

We'll have basically all starters returning, including a QB who has shown some promise this year.

You're insane if you don't think that we will have a vastly improved team next year.

Just curious, why do you even follow UM sports if all you do is bitch about everything?

to believe you are the one objective person on this blog and that's why people take you on. But that is simply not true, and the latest evidence for that is you are commenting on a thread with 120 replies where the vast majority agree with the proposition that we will get blown out tomorrow. You may want to re-evaluate your persona and beliefs.

Defense will be even better next year. I expect another loss in Columbus in 2018 but if our QBs, WRs and OL improve it could be a close game. Realistically our next best chance to beat OSU will be at home in 2019. If we cannot then I will begin to worry a bit about Harbaugh.

It’s a top ten team against an unranked team. The Vegas line is double digits. We already know this. But fanaticals like myself, or fans as they’re sometimes called, sure don’t care. We’re fans not rationals. (We we be called rats if we were?) It’s like Han Solo said, never tell me the odds!! Just beat the goddamn fucking buckeyes. Go Blue!!! Go Michigan!! Go leaders and best!!

Not at all unreasonable. In fact, that’s a pretty logical stance. All evidence points to a massacre on the field tomorrow.

But, weird shit happens in this game. Maybe it’ll happen tomorrow too. We will know soon enough.

It's going to be a tough one. OSU is going to have a lot to prove to the CFP committee and will be looking to put up some points. Im predicting 55-3, OSU. They'll leave the starters in there and not take their foot off the gas pedal. It won't be pretty.

We will most likely lose. I get it. I'm just not seeing the beat down everyone is. We didn't get blown off the field with the exception of PSU. We were in both the MSU and Wisonsin games and with a little luck we win at least one of those games. The issue is that the same guys who thought we would be really good this year are now the ones who think we get blown out. They are deflated and pouting a little but I get it. This will look more like 13 than 15.

Wisconsin isn't the type of team that's going to blow out a team like Michigan. Ohio State can.

We got blown out by PSU (OSU beat them by 1 point) and beaten by MSU (OSU beat them by 45). It's not a certainty that we'll get blown out, but there's a pretty good chance.

This is one of them most honest and true assessments about the game tomorrow. The OLine is a complete disaster. With Kugler struggling to make proper line calls in is first year starting as a 5th year senior; the 2013 Brady Hoke OLine haul of Logan Tuley-Tillman, Kyle Bosch, Chris Fox, Patrick Kugler, Dan Samuelson, and Dave Dawson was a complete disaster.

0 fo 6.

In the case of Kugler, he is the son of an NFL lineman, and a college football coach. A .97 4 Star Recruit that was the #1 Center and the 68th overall prospect. Complete bust. Even worse of a bust than Kyle Kalis.

2014 only gave Michigan Mason Cole and Juwann Bushell-Beatty. 2015 brought Jon Runyan, Nolan Ulizio, and Grant Newsome.

We are gonna get creamed. I struggle to figure out how Hoke/Fuck were so incompetent at getting an OLine. I am currently struggling to figure out how Drevno couldn’t at least get some of these guys to be serviceable.

Lost all three by an average score of 27-11. It is fair to say OSU is better than any of those teams, so 31-10 seems reasonable. I’m just shocked the betting line hasn’t moved to at least 17.

Consider everything that’s stacked against Michigan this season – Michigan’s 3-13 record against Ohio State in games played from 2000-2016; Michigan’s not having a win against any team with a winning record this season; Ohio State’s eighth-ranked total defense against Michigan’s 102nd-ranked total offense; Michigan’s possibly starting its third-string QB, John O’Korn; J. T. Barrett, leader of the nation’s fourth-ranked total offense, trying to become the first Ohio State QB to graduate with a 4-0 record in games he played against Michigan; Ohio State’s playing to impress the FBS Playoff Committee with a lopsided victory, similar to their 59-0 win over Wisconsin in the 2014 Big Ten Championship game; odds-makers and college football pundits predicting a fairly easy Ohio State victory. . . . That’s when an upset win for Michigan would be especially nice!

I think it could get ugly. I'm prepared for that outcome so I am not going to get too emotionally invested in this game

Iowa smoked this Buckeye team. Harbaugh is paid a ton of money to win these games. Other coaches win these games with less. It's time step of and win one that matters. The excuses are disgusting anymore. This is either Michigan or we are simply smokescreening the college football world with bells...whistles and trips overseas. Win the game. Iowa did. So can we.

Agreed. OSU has two blow out losses and was almost a 3 loss team. They are not as good as we are making them out to be but the last 15 years will do that to you. We are also better than what most here think. I remember when we beat these jerks like a drum regardless of the record, so I know we can do this. Plus, are the odds any worse than Rocky v. Drago? He won the fight and the Cold War, so stop being so negative.

About OSU still being alive in the playoff race. They are one play against Penn State away from being a three loss team. If Penn State closes out that game with a first down in Buckeye territory when they had a big lead, OSU has three losses. I hate ND and the SEC as much as anyone, but two loss teams out of those deserve it more that OSU. Too much Urban love by the committee though.

Offensive line issues, serious questions at QB, and nondescript WR play. UM is lacking in the three areas you need to pull out an upset. 31-10 is about right. This should cause some major renovations to the offensive side of the ball to be made. Harbaugh will be 0-3 vs OSU and that isn’t a good look.

I'm afraid the wheels will come off. If the offense doesn't show life early, I'm afraid the D will cave. We have a shot if the O can put up some points, but if we get down 14-0 early, I'm afraid it'll snowball fast

Baumgardner’s is the rational evidence-based take. We can just hope that football is weird and everything somehow breaks our way. Maybe Hurst and Hill have the games of their lives and we get multiple defensive scores. Sure would be nice to fuck their playoff hopes.
