Barstool Spartan saying Izzo & Dantonio may "retire" soon (Update: Quinn says no)

Submitted by BeatOSU52 on

Alright, I'll come out and say it that I realize Barstool Sports isn't going to be considered the most trusted of sources, so mods , feel free to delete, but I thought this should be posted (this is a verified twitter account, BTW):

BREAKING NEWS: Sources close to the Athletic Department reporting that Izzo may retire within next few days, Dantonio soon to follow.

— Barstool Spartans (@BarstoolMSU) January 26, 2018

UPDATE:

Someone from The Athletic that covers MSU says this isn't true (although, they all said the same about Simon and Hollis)

There are "reports" popping up on these interwebs, I believe from fake or spoof accounts, that Izzo is planning on announcing his own retirement in the coming days. A source close to Izzo says this is "nonsense."

The people on this forum are just as bad as Larry Nassar. Celebrating sexual assault because it will hurt a conference rival.

2-15 over the last 17 years against Ohio State.

2-8 over the last 10 years against Michigan State.

Absolutely pathetic.

Wow, so much going on here. "Just as bad as nassar"? Uh, no. Then you imply how terrible they are because they're interested in how it affects our rival and then follow that up with our record against said rivals. Just shows it's more in YOUR head than anyone else's. It's what YOU think about and so you project that onto others. It's like the person who cries racism at everything when most people aren't seeing the color of people, but they are. They are the true racist. You pointing that out says more about you than anyone else.

dangerouslywronginohio, you are obviously wildly ignorant and oblivious about racism in this country and you couldn't be more wrong about people not seeing color.. You are delusional. It's unfathomable that you can't just see it on your own, but there are also mountain ranges of documented empirical and scientific/experimental study evidence that shows it conclusively.

Take everything the vast majority of white America is willing or able to see and understand and know, & that they think is legit and think matters about the racism blacks face here and multiply it by a thousand to be somewhat closer to reality.

Nobody knows what is going to come out, but each man knows what he did Or didn’t do. Hollis got ahead of something bad, we’ll see what shakes loose very soon. Nobody survives this one. Not one stone will be left unturned at this point. MSU brought it all down upon themselves.

I love barstool, but this account has all the credibility of a raccoon.  I'd love to see Izzo and Dantonio go down with the rest of the administration, but trying to drag them into this seems like a stretch.  I expect they'll be a thorn in our side for at least a few more years.

These men that had places of leadership failed. Police and court systems covered up or buried these crimes. Tonight will be Izzo’s last game and dantonio will step down next week. Izzo has handled these situations terribly, dantonio has been even worse.

Yeah, okay. I was out of line when I was the first to say this was going to happen. Then it happened. What do you think is going to happen? What happened to the athletic director and the School president? Do you think they will just let these coaches do what they want at the he risk of completely burying the School? Wake up, it’s 2018,

BQ, a highly respected journalist, or the Barstool Spartans twitter account?  Let's beat these coaches on the court and gridiron.  I must say, defeating Izzo on his homecourt with their talent this year gets sweeter by the hour!

Of its own. True or not. It will be true by Monday. They should reopen the Appling Payne case. Izzo will support Simon again after that coveup unravels.

The pride before the fall. This isn't over it'll never be over. It's just starting. Sparty is about to drown in their own shit. I was hoping JH could kick Dantoni's ass in EL this year but he might not get the chance. I know we've had a rough stretch but compared to this unfolding nightmare it really is great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

Words matter

Actions or lack of actions in MAC’s case matter more.

All their talk is turning around on them. Terrible it happened in this way and horrible for the victims. I hope MSU athletics - or MAC as I shall now forever call them - dies a slow and painful death. They deserve it.
