The B1G has won the B1G-ACC challenge after day 1

With 3 games cancelled and 6 games won by the B1G on day 1, the B1G has already won the B1G-ACC challenge. If Purdue didn't blow a 20 point lead it would have been a day 1 sweep as well.

Yes. Just goes to show you how strong the Bigten has become. The Bigten has dominated this series for awhile now. Even with the expansion of the ACC, the Bigten has still dominated.

To be honest, I'm not really worried about them come NCAA tournament time.

I'll never forget when I picked them to win my NCAA pool a long time ago when they had like 5 seniors starting and were like 30-2 or something just insane. They lost to a 14/15 seed (think it was Northwestern State, this is completely off memory and I'm too lazy to google). They had a dude named Adam Haluska who could play some serious hoops.

Ol' Fran is good at building up early season pub, winning some good games during the season, and launching his team out of a cannon when it matters most.

To be fair, that was five years before Fran was on the scene in Iowa City (Hello, Steve Alford!). OTOH, he has definitely earned his rep for having teams who fade down the stretch and come up small in the postseason.

Okay so maybe Iowa just likes hiring coaches who shrink when it matters most.

This is huge for Michigan and the rest of the Big Ten. With the limited non-conference schedule, these wins matter even more than usual. At this point, as long as Michigan finishes .500 or better in-conference, you'd think they're in.

Check out Penn State walloping 15th ranked VA Tech by 20.  That was unexpected.  The Big Ten truly is loaded from top to bottom this year.  Illinois looks pretty damn good but definitely a down year for Duke.

The ACC as a whole definitely looks down.  The National Champion should come from the Big Ten, Big Twelve, or Gonzaga this year.  No other teams look particularly capable.

Definitely surprised at how PSU dominated VT but it was also ridiculous that VT was ranked #15. Yes, they beat Nova in OT on a neutral court but their other three wins were over total zeroes. I think they're going to be like last year's team that popped MSU in Maui and then ended up a .500 outfit only because they had a pathetically easy non-con slate (aside from their Maui games).

Want to go to a happy place? Look at the details here:

Here, I'll save you some time:

"Tuesday's loss was in rare air: it's the first time in 38 years Duke has lost two nonconference games at home, the last being 1982-1983, when Coach K was in his third season."

Illinois looks like the clear best team in the Big Ten.  Iowa is great offensively, but not great on defense.  MSU is a clear 3rd to me.  Wisconsin is a little further back to me.  Ohio State and Rutgers are solid teams.  Penn State is better than I thought they'd be, we belong in a group with them and Purdue.
