B1G East Tiebreaker Update
With annual Honey-Do Weekend approaching, time to update tiebreaker numbers in the unlikely event we somehow lose to Penn State.
OSU 6 (Wisc,Minn,Purdue)
Mich 5 (Neb.Minn,Purdue)
PSU 5 (Illinois,Iowa,NW)
As I interpret the tiebreaker rules, we need either to be in first place or in a two way tie at the top with OSU, so PSU drops out. 3 way tie likely reverts to next tiebreaker, essentially, who beat the B1G West Champion.
With this in mind, next week’s rooting interests (while raking leaves or coming along for Christmas shopping, of course) are:
Maryland to beat NW in Evanston
Nebraska to beat Purdue in Lincoln
Minnesota to beat Staee in Minneapolis
Go Blue!!

To add more info:
Psu: northwestern, Illinois, iowa
osu: Minnesota, Purdue, wisconsin
michigan: Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska
In the unlikely event that psu beats Michigan and Michigan beats osu, and all 3 teams end up in a 3-way tie (as is the hypothetical raised by the op):
Psu looks in bad shape with northwestern and Illinois in their group.
osu and Michigan only have one difference: Nebraska vs Wisconsin. So the simplified guide is: we love Nebraska, we hate Wisconsin. FYI, they play each other the last game of the season, so there is a scenario where that game decides both b10 East and b10 west championships.

Obviously as a Michigan fan I do not want to see this. I would hate, first of all, losing to PSU and I would hate relying on Nebraska to get us into the title game.
But if this didn't involve my team, I would love this.
Penn State had a brutal day yesterday. They lost to OSU, Nebraska beat Northwestern, Minnesota beat Iowa in a heartbreaker, and Wisconsin had a huge comeback against Illinois.

No they don't. Iowa plays Nebraska and Wisconsin plays Minnesota.

I can see all three of those going our way (if Neb doesn't tank).
That said, I don't see us losing to Frames this year... but it would still be nice to see osu's SoS go down a little.

I thought the tiebreaker was cumulative conference record of Big 10 West opponents?

It is. That's what the OP has. Not sure what the comment was about it being who essentially wins the Big Ten West. Maybe just figures that's how it will ultimately shake out.

No Christmas shopping allowed before the leaves are raked. I hold firm on that.

Win. The. Game.

Minnesota winning in Iowa was good for Michigan. However, I do think it was a terrible overturn / change by the official. My understanding is - a fair catch ruling wasn’t the question - it was whether the Iowa punt returner went out of bounds. How does this happen?

It was not about out of bounds. DeJean was waving his left arm around in a "get away" motion. Evidently, this is considered "an invalid fair catch signal" which is exactly the same as a regular fair catch signal, except that you are allowed to tackle the receiver if he goes to pick it up (basing that on a comment on the board somewhere).
So, he made a signal (a kind of fair catch signal) that negated the return.
Usually when you wave your arms side to side to tell your teammates to get away, you don't go near the ball. It's understood to be an indication to the kicking team that you're not returning it, thus, you're not allowed to return it.
It was the correct call.
