B10 Title Game - Pick Winner + Saturday Activities

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Today is the B10 title game with MSU v. Iowa and state favored by I think 4 pts at most places.   It is also the first Saturday, except for the bye week, that there's no Michigan game and indeed only one game left (yikes) to be played before next August.  So two questions:

1.  Who do you pick to win the B10 title tonight, and not just because you like/don't like one of the teams, but who do you actually think will win and why?

2.  What are you doing with your first Saturday that is basically the start of the off season?  Sunny and warm here up north, looks like a family football game with the entire family (even beloved mgowife) and cutting down a Christmas tree from the north part of the farm and dragging it into the house.  What do you have going?

Pick your winner and enjoy your day.

Would love for the Hawkeyes to win but somehow the sparties will pull it out in the end. Soccer game for the kid and then an evening with Mrs. Fisch to celebrate 22 years of wedded bliss! Go blue!

1st Saturday without a game and I just arrived in the country from a long project in South Africa. Heading straight from the airport to play some hockey. Also Iowa will be winning the Big Ten championship.

Hoping like hell they will lose, but those bastards always seem to find away, and usually it's by some measure of good fortune....or soul sacrificing. Stuck at work all day so yay

I think MSU will roll them.  They are really playing well the last couple weeks.  I have a hard time rooting for Iowa just because I believe they are undeserving.  The didn't play MSU, UM, PSU or OSU this year.  MSU ran the gauntlet this season if nothing else.  Maybe, I will just root for a meteor strike.

To drive an hour to the in laws just to put up their christmas lights. An Iowa victory certainly would make me feel better. Unfortunately MSU has too many playmakers for Iowa to handle and MSU will win.

Man I hate saying this but MSU wins easy. Obviously MSU has their holes, but with a healthy Cook & a defense that is getting better, they could also be the most complete team

I think MSU wins, 38-17. I'm going to watch some football, work, & keep mulling over my relocation options of Boulder Colorado, Denver Colorado, or Colorado Springs... Any insight / advice from those whom have experience with those areas is greatly appreciated.

While I'm rooting like hell for Iowa, I just know that MSU has this game in the bag. They either play down to their competition and weasel their way into winning, or they manage to play up to higher competition and always rise to the occasion.

They have more marquee victories in the last year than Michigan does in maybe the last 7-8 years. They just know how to win.

I want Iowa to win, but I bet MSU wins comfortably, by at least 10-14. Credit Iowa for being undefeated, but they've played no one. And with how much confidence MSU has right now, it would not shock me to see them win the whole thing next month.

1. B1G Champion = Iowa

They will play lights out on defense and stop the running game. Their secondary has created turnovers all season. Iowa doesn't have much flash on offense, but they will control the clock.

Iowa 24 MSU 21

2. It's not the off-season for me. We have Army/Navy next weekend in Philly and then the Military bowl Dec 28th. Flying to Orlando for the Citrus bowl on the 29th.

Navy 35 Army 10

Navy 31 Pitt 28

Michigan 24 Florida 14

got State, but I got at least one major upset today in UF v. Bama/Clemson v.UNC. I am recovering from cartilage removal re generation surgery and it sucks enormous balls. Was really hoping M was in BIG title game so I could look forward to that while I sit in the same sport ALL THE TIME. #tooyoungforthisshit

I assume Clemson and Bama win, Bama rolling in particular. MSU should win, but they've also played with fire all year and if Tommy Armstrong can eat up your defense so can Iowa. But Lord is MSU in trouble if they play Clemson in the first bowl game.

I'm jinxing them. My wife is a Hawkeyes so there's big benefits for them to win!

I'm at Discount Tire now cause my high school son asked me late last night why that tire light on his dashboard is on. Fun being Dad....

MSU has a Rose Bowl and another NY6 game so their next obvious goal is the playoff, so it would LOL for them to fall sort and get knocked back into "just" an NY6 game. And that game would probably be the Peach Bowl against Houston as the Rose Bowl would surely take OSU.

However, in a vacuum I'd like to see the best four in the final four. Having Iowa in there reminds me of Basketball March Madness Final Fours where there were three blue bloods and one "cinderella" who you knew was going to get smoked and made one of the semifinals a throwaway.

However, if MSU gets seeded 3rd against #2 Alabama (which I think they will) then they'll get smoked anyway so it doesn't matter. I DEFINITELY want MSU to lose in the semifinal, if they go, of course.

Swim meet, then sit down with family to watch A Very Murray Christmas during SEC blowout, then B1GCG.

In order of confidence:

1. Bama (Henry wraps up the Heisman today)
2. MSU (hope I am wrong here but their experience wins out)
3. Clemson (NC has been on a roll lately and has looked impressive; this one goes down to the wire)
4. Stanford (USC will play hard for its new coach and this one will be closer than the last time)

When we wake up tomorrow AM, the CFP rankings will be;

1. Clemson
2. Bama
3. Oklahoma
4. MSU
5. Stanford
6. OSU

1. Todays games.

Iowa over MSU because Iowa controls the line and their seccondary will limit cook

Clemson over NC and it wont be close.

Bama over Florida and this will not be close either.

USC over Stanford. I think USC will be playing with fire for their new coach and I like the weapons they have on both sides of the ball.

2. Well my tree is already up( thanks to the wife) so were already in the christmas swing. Ill start my offseason by praying that Walton gets back out there soon and that the basketball team continues to put it together. If Basketball is boring this offseason and not playing well God help us all. Also brewing some home brew Tripel Ale Beer.

The real questions:

Does a close Clemson loss keep them in the top 4?

An NC upset somehow vault them into the top four?

Will Stanford jump an idle OSU?

Somebody talk me off the ledge and tell me we won't have to worry about MSU/OSU representing 50 percent of the final 4!

It is a very slim chance but absolutely possible. The only way both MSU and OSU get in are if both bama and Stanford lose (and obviously MSU wins). I think if Clemson loses the committee will either put unc in or leave Clemson at #4. Not sure which, but either way doesn't matter. They won't do it for bama cuz they would then have two losses.
