If he suffered the type of injury I've seen described elsewhere, he likely had a fair bit of inflammation and damage that is still healing. It makes sense he'd want to take it easy, especially if your goal is a long run in the tourney.

I don't blame Illinois or Ayo, at all, for being cautious. If it's the right thing for them, it's the right thing for them. They could win this game and they'll still probably finish second, so it's a risk with low upside, and a guy like Ayo can carry you to the Final Four. I would fully support this decision if we were facing the same situation.
Still, it's disappointing, and honestly Coach Brad merits a light troll for this after his comments alluding to our COVID layoff.
