Any rumors how our weekend visitors faired ?

Submitted by Wal-Mart Wolverine on

And their thoughts on the 10 inches of snow that hit our state ? I bet they were making "snow angels" on the "Big House " turf.

Did any of the official visitors have to stay an extra night due to weather? I know my dad's flight out of DTW was cancelled yesterday.

Would be an absolute shame if the #1 recruit in the country had to stay an extra night on campus due to weather. That didn't work out for us very well last year...

Anyone who isn't a little bit concerned that osu still thinks they have a good enough shot at dpj for their top 3 recruiters to drive through a snowstorm is lying to themselves. He has been silent the entire time and nobody outside of his family has any real info and clearly the message he is sending other coaches isn't negative so I wouldn't assume he is the lock everyone purports him to be. Should be an ass clenching few weeks between him and Harris

I think this matters to him.  OSU has been on him hard, and were first to offer.  Mikey Weber, Webb, and Conley think he's going to Cbus.  I still believe he ends up in AA with the med school connections, proximity to family etc.

Truthfully, if you told me we could have Najee or DPJ...I would take Najee / C Evans combo for next 4 years, don't kill me for it, but we need Najee more.  Hopefully it won't matter and we get them both.

But I just got off the recruiting Roundup podcast for today. What I can tell you about Sam Webb is he said both those rumours are bullshirt. I believe Sam and he said that OSU is not any closer to getting DPJ than UM. His gut opinion of the Michigan coachs never hearing a peep about anyone saying that Michigan is out on DPJ much less DPJ himself saying that is what is happening. The same goes for any other top recruit who has not commited to UM yet. So I would like to tell everyone that this Disinformation should be spelled CROOTIN.

How realistic is it for a 5 star college football player to attend medical school?
If you are successful - you plan to play in NFL.
If you are a NFL star, you make too much money to consider a 2nd career in medicine.
To be an orthopedic surgeon would require about a decade of training after college/NFL.
Lastly, every school these players consider provides the academic base to attend medical school.
osu might guarantee him a spot in medical school regardless of his academic success.

not a 5 star but he is currently living his dream in the nfl.  med school is on hold.

a great friend of our family was all american at UM and played in the nfl for several years.  then became an orthopedic surgeon.

hell, if you play until 30, you can be a doctor by 34 and practice for 30-40 yrs.

You can get a good education at any Big Ten school, except maybe Nebraska.  ; )  Yes Michigan is ranked higher than the rest, but a lot of very successful people who went to lousy schools including Alabama.

When you are hiring people at what level school do you say, "Yeah, this person isn't a serious candidate because they went to [Eastern Michigan/Ferris/Northwood University]."

(I went to gradschool at Eastern for a year and while it isn't Michigan by any stretch, you could learn anything you wanted and they had good teachers.  A couple of my professors I had as teachers while at Michigan.)

Yeah im some field like 60% of all the professors have harvard/stanford/yale degrees because they grant more phd's than faculty growth demands.  You can get a good education pretty much anywhere.  The Michigan brand carries a lot of other things with it but those things mean a lot less when you are a football player and have access to that network.

It's easier to get into med school from osu than michigan. As someone who went to Michigan from ohio and went to med school in ohio, it's a lot easier to get a 4.0 and get into med school than go to Michigan and get let's just say less than that. They hand out 4.0s at osu like condoms and that's unheard of at Michigan. Med schools care a lot more about GPA than where you went for undergrad. It's a sad truth.

I'm not related to him but I get real info from him almost weekly. Is it just fake news?

I think you're reading into their trip up incorrectly. I don't think it was a sign of how confident they are. It was more of a "shit Michigan may have just sealed the deal, let's see if we can throw a wrench in that because this kid is going to be spectacular".

Mike Weber is the greatest thing OSU has going for them in DPJ's recruitment. They are very good friends. Everything else is telling him Michigan, including family, other friends, teammates, trainers, academics, etc. This time of year always carries a lot of weird twitter rumors, but unless something super weird happens, DPJ is coming to Michigan.

I'm sorry but I just can't take anything you say serious. It's your user name. I want to believe, but I've seen this happen too many times before. They beat us again and we seem to have a frickin mental block when it comes to beating them. We've proven to be incapable of beating them in the last decade and a half. It's the reason they continually pull the top recruits in over us. Not to mention we haven't loss less than two games since 97. Think about that for a second. They're on a different level than us and until Harbaugh actually wins something I will never feel confident in winning a top recruit over them. I know I'm a little bitch for feeling like this.

I know a lot of people who feel like you do. Some Michigan fans have this almost fan-PTSD type ailment. What you need to conceptualize is that Harbaugh has taken a roster that was 5-7 with a deeply-ingrained defeatist attitude and won more games in his first two years than any UM coach since Yost.

Since Yost.

When we win the Orange Bowl, Harbaugh will have as many double digit win seasons as we've had in the previous 8 seasons (already true) and as many NY6/BCS bowl wins as we've had in the previous 14(!!!) seasons (and that is counting our fluke 2011 season and Sugar Bowl win). I think many media people were declaring that this would be a longer turnaround than M fans think when Jim took the job, and then after he exceeded expectations in year 1, people expected the turnaround to be totally completed. What Jim has done with a program that was seriously lost in the woods is incredible. He is recruiting at a top 3 level. He is one of the best football coaches in the world in the last 30 years.

We're going in the best possible direction, and are already back in the group of College Football's Elites.

DPJ will be a Wolverine shortly. Harris, who knows, but DPJ is coming here. All of the things Ohio State has to their advantage in selling a recruit normally, DPJ doesn't need. He already has them and knows that. They don't have the advantage of selling the NFL to him or a better lifestyle through football because he already has a great network of support. He wants to be a doctor as much or more as a football player.

I don't think anyone on the OSU staff even thinks he's going anywhere other than M. But, you recruit hard to the end because you never know. And if you swing and miss on Trey Smith, DPJ and Marvin Wilson, but connect with Darnay Holmes, then it's entirely worth it.
