I didn't expect them to be in the Top 25.

The reason I left dots after saying it, is because there's numerous rumors that Urban Meyer is going to be hired at USC, unless Clay Helton makes a dramatic turn around this season. Where's there's that many rumors, they usually turn out to be true. So I I'm more than half expecting to see Urban Meyer at USC next season.

I'm not arguing for them to be top 25 or anything, but while it's true that their incoming class is only ranked 20th, their rising sophomore class was kinda ridiculous with four composite 5 stars and 8 total top 100 players. 17/18 players were 4 stars. I'd think that would be much more of a factor than the freshman class being ranked "only" 20th.

I really wish they would scrap polls until halfway through the season. I understand why rankings are a thing now and all throughout the season, of course - they're there so people will watch the games.

My most underrated: TCU. Finished behind Army in the others receiving votes at #33.

Most overrated: #22 Syracuse. I think this is based completely on last year's final record.

Might be OT within a non-OT thread.  But why the hell does the Coaches Poll need a sponsor - does everything need naming rights?  And does that sponsor need to be Amway?  Kind of diminishes the value of the poll - for whatever limited value a pre-season poll has.

MSU at 20. Early schedule is easy so I'm starting to reluctantly buy-in with their seniors on defense. They won't sniff the championship game and I'm not sure they'll end up ranked much higher than this by November.

Honestly surprised Staee is ranked. Will be interesting to see if they can sludge fart their way to 10 wins or if things are finally catching up to Dantini.

I notice from following these last couple of decades that these College Football pre-season polls heavily favor teams that have returning QB.   As they mostly should, but just some something I notice in that they often don't take much in to factor on other players a team may lose.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner.TOSU is the outlier to the prerequisite of a returning QB and Head Coach. Shows respect for the Coach Day and the great staff he put together.Probably different if he wasn’t the interim HC for 3 games and the fact they turned a first year starter into a heisman candidate.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think State's ranking is pretty much fine. Dantonio gets about one more year on his benefit of the doubt clock, their defense is top 5 and will keep games close that maybe shouldn't be, last year they probably weren't as bad as they played given all the injuries. Their path to 8 wins, which would put them at about 20 in the poll, is pretty believable.
