C'mon.  I can't believe you got a +.

Penny Hardaway been at Memphis for 3 years now.  Absolutely no excuse to not know this if you follow ANY college basketball.

I'm good with a joke -- and enjoy many on this site -- but Anfernee deserves better.  Especially since he was traded for CWebb on day 1 of the draft.

I'm aware that Penny Hardaway is at Memphis. When I saw the name "Hardaway", on a Michigan blog mind you, I immediately thought of Tim Hardaway. I'm sure I'm not the only one considering a) Tim Hardaway's son played at Michigan and b) Tim Hardaway was a damn good player in his own right.

Tim Hardaway Jr played at Michigan, so when I see the name Hardaway, that's who I think of first. And my first thought was that I didn't know his dad was coaching. Took me a minute to realize who they meant. But thanks for letting us all know we're morons for that.

To be fair, neither inherited what Howard did.  Howard has done a great job, but 80% of the present roster isn't his.  And a couple have been to a final four before.

In the long run, I think your comment will be right.  All 3 deserve a little more time to prove it out.

At least half of the roster (and 40% of the starters) are Howard’s

Clearly Howard’s players

Dickinson ***

Smith ***

Brown **

Williams *

Jackson

Howard

Clearly Beilein’s players

Brooks ***

Livers ***

Johns **

Davis **

Nunez

Players they both deserve credit for

Wagner ***

Howard also deserves at least some of the credit for the growth in Beilein’s players (particularly Davis, but probably for other players like Johns.

Nice piece.

While Ewing and Hardaway haven't yet had the same success, they are similar to Howard in that they were all top 5 picks who didn't need to work again, if they chose not too.

These guys love the game and love their schools....
