Also in 1986...

The basketball team grabbed its first outright title since 1986, which was my junior year at Michigan.

Know what else happened in 1986?

We got a new offensive coordinator. Moeller moved over from DC/LB coach to OC (yes, Bo still called the shots).  Lloyd went from DBs coach to DC/LB coach (along with Jim Hermann).

And?  We won the Big 10 title in the Harbaugh "guarantee we'll win" game as Matt Franz shanked a last minute FG attempt at the Shoe.  We went on to play Arizona State in the Rose Bowl.

Other OT happenings in 1986:

Chernobyl

Space shuttle Challenger explodes

Kentucky winner Ferdinand.  Also, Ferdinand Marcos flees Phillipines.

Oprah Winfrey show debuts on national television

Song of the Year: We are the World.

Graduated from LSA spring of '86. Season tix to fb and hoops-the clinching game vs. indiana was best I saw us play in four years there. Also did student teaching at Scarlett in Pittsfield during spring. Was on prep when shuttle blew up. Later taught with a lady who was one of finalists for teacher in space. Celebrated 21st birthday at Dooleys. At least, that is what I'm told...
