From Adidas to Nike. Thoughts so far?

Submitted by MichiganMan14 on
I've been pining for this for 10 years and am thoroughly impressed with the Jordan Brand/Nike gear so far. What are your takes so far? Has the gear matched the hype?

A note about publicity:

Before today's unveiling was announced, there was a note that the football uniforms would be released at the recruiting BBQ. But then this happened before the BBQ.

...But what haven't we seen? Actual, live players wearing actual, live uniforms. We've seen promotional pictures taken in studios with special lighting, and we've seen mannequins in special lighting.

But we haven't seen them in person... yet. Perhaps there is yet another rabbit to pull out of the hat, one to provide extra excitement for the large number of highly-ranked recruits still to visit the campus.

It has exceeded my expectations.  I was expecting to like them more than adidas, but I didn't think I would like the Nike unis as much as I do.  They're outstanding.

Switching from Adidas is a top 3 life event. I have met so many people so excited. I even got a hotel room to celebrate. Can you believe that?!!! A HOTEL ROOM BY MYSELF!

More accurately, how about from Brandon to Warde???

That's more accurate because the school has the final say on anything made for them.  Brandon treated adidas like shit and fucked with a lot of the designs.  It's not all their fault (some, yes -- there were quality problems and sizing is weird for some).

Any clothing vendor would be smelling like roses after the last few years of what we went through though.

They look great but I could honestly care less and think the whole Nike thing ...all the innuendo and speculation about fonts and colors and such was so overblown.

I do like the "new" (old) Block M hat because it's the one I had in Jr High and High School but I'm sure Adidas would have produced it too and the seemingly darker BLUE ...like that we're sticking with the all-white road unis.

If this all makes a difference to the kids (like it's a lifechanger for WD), then it's good ...certainly the publicity and midnight release was manufactured and worked well (MDen.com crashing aside) in terms of notoriety, but all the hand-wringing and unfounded assertions about how things would look was a lot of (off-season) nothing.

Time to play some damn games already..!

Everything looks classy, clean, and crisp. The cleats and gloves are fucking sick, and the matte helmet looks better than our older one in my opinion. The only thing left to do is to see them during a game, which I'm sure will make the gear look even better.

I was gonna go see my kid get born, but this was more important and better.

First Lincoln won the Civil War.  Now Nike/Jordan.

Fuck world peace.  This is better than anything that could ever happen.

I didn't think I'd really care much about it but I really like some of the gear and the Jumpman logo is pretty sweet. Looking forward to what they do in future, they won me over!

Grandfathered in as the first jumpman school and gets the first crack (for a season) at new uniform technology from Nike as they introduce it on an ongoing basis, with all other future jumpman schools having to wait a year to play catch up to M. After all, we are the Leaders and Best.

I knew they wouldn't really touch the uniforms, but the shoes, cleats and gloves look fantastic. Outside of adidas making team Yeezys I don't think the players could be any happier. I always found adidas never fitting me well, very blah looking.

Wow are they obsessed. Over Jumpman now ... lol ... Dude said they have the number 1 D in the country and nothing is a fluke. Harbaugh has never accomplished anything .. and is leaving .. I said when we get into the playoff we will not go zippo... he said they won a NC by getting into a game.. The little run is over... thank you... recruits understand

Not worthy of own thread. Does anyone know when some of the other non revenue sport uniforms are being released. Specifically lacrosse, maybe closer to fall? I thought they would all be revealed today but j saw nothing on the Michigan Twitter page which I would assume would be posting pics of the new uniforms.

Adidas was an era that for me will be remembered as total hell.  I have been going to games since before I could walk, and starting in 2007, everything just seemed to change.  The new stadium, the new coach, and the new clothing deal.  Nothing felt right, and the Adidas line will always be part of that feeling of total hell that was 2008-2015.  Welcome back Nike, welcome back Michigan Football

The one thing I appreciate is that because we have teamed with Jumpman, we'll have apparel that no one else has. I like the Nike stuff, but I could walk down the street and see an OSU fan wearing the exact same shirt, just with their crappy colors/logo. We won't have that issue now that Jumpman is exclusive to Michigan football.

It feels good for us to be a Nike school again. Just from a personal preference and growing up with Michigan football wearing Nike and winning more than losing. I compare the Adidas years as the dark ages of Michigan football.

as a lot of other people were, but after I saw how sleek the uniforms looked and how much the recruits and players liked them, I'm starting to get into it. I love the football, soccer, and baseball uniforms.
