Chances sound very slim for Michigan. No natural or familial ties to us, while he has ties to Milwaukee and NW. If he doesn't choose to play for his dad or for NW, looks like he's very likely to head to Duke.
I love the blue bloods with UW Milwaukee thrown in there. Quite an eclectic mix.
Apparently his dad is the head coach, and both his parents went to Northwestern and he was a ball boy there. So he will pick Duke.
First double post, Mea Culpa
I think the main battle in this recruitment is Duke vs the G-League
Since it sounds like M is a longshot, I'm rooting for him to pick Duke, then for Zion to admit he took cash directly from Coach K, the Blue Devils get nuked and Baldwin Jr. chooses the G League, leaving what's left of the Duke program scrambling around for a 3 star to fill his spot.
They have recording of coaches admitting to paying players and nothing has been done. When it comes to Coach K they could have video of him giving money to a player on court, during the final four and they would punish him by naming the tournament after him.
Don’t forget the 5 additional scholarships he would get annually too.
The NCAA would never touch Coach K. Period.
The NCAA caught UNC running one of the biggest cases of academic fraud in the country and they didn't do shit to them either
The NCAA really wanted to hit UNC for that. They got overruled by the member schools who do not want the NCAA looking into their own academic offerings.
If my Sparty crush was an specific type of horse breed, she'll be an 'American Cream Draft'.
This happened under Beilein too. We get in a bunch of top 10s but then never get anyone
Thank you for the update, but I've become totally jaded about reading anything related to 5* basketball players interest in Michigan. We have almost no chance at signing any of them anymore especially with the new G League situation and what we are starting to get confirmation about on players getting money from top tier programs. I'll be very interested though to read about 4* players interest in Michigan because at least we have a shot with those guys and it's a much better use of the coaches' time.
Good point.
Note: A little selfish interest in this particular one, as this is our school district and I have one child graduating this year, and 2 in high school this upcoming fall, so it will be his senior season.
Was confused by the hometown kid thing, this clears it up. Thanks
Both he and Max Christie were NU ballboys and both have at least one parent who was a Northwestern student-athlete. But of course rather than joining forces to lead NU hoops out of the dark ages, Chris Collins is the coach and they'll both go elsewhere.
Hard to blame them for that
